Hollywood Studios a half-day park? I have to disagree.

For us, it is currently a half-day park. Actually, if we don't have hopper passes, we skip it entirely on some trips. We used to love the drawing class and Great movie Ride, but those are gone. It has long been our least favorite park, because it just isn't as pretty, green, or well laid out as the other parks.

We also aren't wowed by any of the eating options in HS. We've pretty much tried them all, except PizzeRizzo. Actually, we've had several epically bad meals in HS! (Mama Melrose's!)

I'm hoping the new rides will be fun when they open. We'll reassess it then.

So, why do people consider the show to be one and done, but not the ride? I don't get it.

1. At theme parks, we like to keep moving over sitting or standing still. With shows, you often have to stand in one place for along time before you even enter. With attractions, queues might move slowly, but at least they move, and moving feels like progress. One of our favorite WDW shows is the AK bird show, partly because we can often enter right away.

2. After visiting Orlando as many times as we have, well, doing well in queues is part of the fun. If we go on Space Mtn at 9am, and see the line has jumped from (our) 5minute wait into a 45minute wait, that's kind of fun for us.

3. I also really like rides that change. Even though it is dated, Buzz offers an opportunity to get a different score. I'm happy that ST now has multiple versions. I wish they'd do that to more attractions.

4. I also find it harder to time shows. Some shows only happen a few times a day. I hate the idea of standing in line for half an hour, then missing the cut-off! It ALMOST happened to us the last time we saw the Nemo show. Ugh, and it was HOT that day!

I have never considered any of the parks to be "half-day."
Those who do, obviously don't partake of all each park has to offer.
(They don't HAVE to, of course, but there's no way to "do it all"
if you only spend a half day at X park.)

Every trip for years, we spend multiple days (or at least parts of multiple days) at each theme park.
This is very true. I rope drop AK and can be out in 1.5 hours having done all of my favorites, but I can also easily spend an entire day in there!

I guess I'll say this- I could easily go to Disneyland multiple times a year as we're less than 4.5 hours away, driving, but I don't because if I go all the time, it becomes a bit more ordinary and less special. That's just my take on it, though. Sometimes I also think it'd be neat to be an AP and live super close and go for a few hours here and there. Some attractions can become less fun with repeated viewings/riding, surely.

It's a one day park for us. We do like the shows even though we've seen them a million times. Sometimes it's a 3/4 day park, sometimes all day. But never half day because my kids are spread out in ages so we find ourselves doing things that appeal to different kids.

We just spent a full day there, staying all the way until the Star Works fireworks show. We never had empty time in the schedule and had a lot of fun! We don't get to go very frequently, so that does make a difference as we are happy to see the shows, too. We rode Star Tours twice, saw the March of the First Order and Galaxy Far, Far, Away show, rode ToT (well, some of us did while the others waited), Toy Story Midway Mania, watched Muppet Vision (we've seen it before but the kids haven't), and the Indiana Jones Stunt Show. We ate at Sci Fi Dine In and also at the 50's Prime Time. It was a great day!

Just back from our trip. We had hopper passes and the only park we stayed in from open to close was MK. Each day we went to two parks so that we could experience each at night. As for DHS, in the past we would normally spend the least time there. This year we went 3 different times, mainly because both of my kids were finally old enough to ride the Tower of Terror and Rockin Roller Coaster. I think the park itself could easily be a full day if you partake in everything there.

I don't understand either. Rides don't change, shouldn't they be one and done?
I’ve come to believe that humans prefer to be in motion. Sitting in a moving car and sitting in a traffic jam are both, well, sitting in a car. But somehow there’s a big difference.

It seems to me they are trying to rectify that now with the new lands and rides.

Even with all the new rides going in its not going to be enough, its a small park that's going to be packed and as soon as these new rides open its going to need another expansion, the problem is they may not have the space by using the area south of the World Dr toll for the hotel.

I'm a good example of that as I'll drive 5-10 miles out of my way to avoid a road I know will have traffic. My drive to work is 11-12 miles but I end up driving 17-20 miles to go home since this route is more likely to keep me moving.

Love Hollywood Studios and can't wait to go back! I like rides but not as much as my family so the shows were really special for me. Frozen and Muppets were highlights. My kids love star wars so that was a hit. Jedi training academy was a highlight of the whole trip. And, so many chances to meet characters! Fantastic park.

We also love HS. It's an easy park to get through the gates. For some reason it seems to be less stressful for us to get in and out of this park, so more relaxing! My kids adore Star Wars, so strolling around and seeing Storm Troopers walking by is a huge highlight. Kids with lightsabers, Sabine's helmet, it's all wonderful! I can't wait to get to the park on our next trip! I'm actually a little afraid of what it will become after our May trip, so I'm going to 'eat it up' when we're there and people don't even bother to swing by and enjoy what's there currently.

We absolutely love HS. It's close to a tie with MK for our favorite, (MK wins out purely for nostalgic reasons and atmosphere) :) But we always go at least 2 days, and sometimes even stop by for a few hours if we have hoppers another day or two (depending how long the trip is) We love TT, RRC, Muppets, and the Frozen show is awesome. Add in TSM, ST,the Ariel show & Beauty Best show = win for us! I am torn on the new lands coming- of course on the one hand I am excited (especially for Toy Story Land), but... I kind of dread the potential crowd increase. Having seen how NUTS Pandora is over at Animal Kingdom, I don't want that "constant clog" to ruin HS. And I know how many intense star wars fans are out there- so it's a bit scary! :scared: My hope is that after it's open awhile it'll die down a bit. We're going in the Fall, so hopefully by then. We thought of going this summer- but the idea of how crazy it'll be at HS in summer turned us off that idea.
