Hollywood Marriages

I'm trying to think of some more celebrity couples that have been together for a while:

Hillary Swank and Chad Lowe
Tea Leoni and David Duchovny
Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas
Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas (!)
Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith

That's all I can think of right now.

I believe Ewan McGregor ( :cloud9: ) has been married to the same woman for over 10 years. She's not famous (at least I don't think so) so maybe that is why. Maybe famous+non-famous= better track record than famous+famous which = too much ego for one marriage. LOL.

Oh come on people! Celebrities getting married just to get some press time? Now WHO on earth would do that? :rolleyes1

I also think money is a big factor. It's easier to get divorced if you have money.

I was reading an article about Nick & Jessica and I really think her dad is a large part of the problem. I guess even some Hollywood couples have to deal with meddling in-laws (something that I've actually never had a problem with THANK GOODNESS)

I was thinking to myself the same thing about Jessica's dad!!! Being that he is Jessica's mgr and all...........control issues..........yep, he had his hand in some of the issues.
I cannot think of any LONG time couples ..........but my thoughts on SOME of today's couples>>>>>>

Harrison Ford left his long time wife for Calista Flockhart......geesh

"TomKat"??? whatever.............

Will Smith and Jada P. seem like a good fit couple

Ashton and Demi...........start counting until we hear splitsville news....
Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan ---they seem like a fit.......

Just hearing that Ben Affleck was soooooo together with Jennifer Lopez and then BAM, separation and BAM again, married to the other jennifer and now they have a little baby girl. Dang, that was pretty quick changeover!!!

IGoldie and Kurt, not married but might as well be.

Yeh but Goldie has also stated this-

Goldie Sparks Controversy with Cheating Comments
5 May 2005 (WENN)
Goldie Hawn stirred up a controversy on American TV this morning when she argued with sex expert Sue Johanson about unfaithful men. The actress told the hosts of TV magazine show The View that she understood why men cheated - because it was "biologically correct in the species." Hawn explained, "I think that a lot of people cheat, they don't tell that they're cheating. I think that there's a great promise to believe you can be with one person only for the rest of your life." Goldie revealed she never asks about her partner of 22 years, Kurt Russell's infidelities. She added, "It's just the way I try and keep myself feeling happy because otherwise we're going to be feeling miserable all the time because women's relationships with other men, and the way they get turned on, is quite different. It's much more personal, it's more sensitive. Frankly, how would you like it, as women, to have testosterone running through your body every day; walking out and having to deal with this every day when they don't have control." And, after the outraged hosts of the all-woman show lashed out at their guest for her comments, sex expert Johanson was called in to comment on the free-spirited star's notion that men can't help but cheat.

To each his/her own but not exactly a text book healthy relationship.;)

As a card carrying SAG member, my sentiments exactly!

My DD is also a proud card carrying SAG member, except she is only 16 and hasn't gotten married yet, Tom Welling (Smallville) just didn't wait and is already happily married. As far as Hollywood couples who do stay together, in the past there were Clark Gable and Carol Lombard, Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall, and Bob Hope and his wife Delores stayed married for 69 years! I think thats a record for Hollywood.

While she was married for two years to Scott Foley, dumped him, moved on to Michael Vartan (now he's off Alias) and whamo bamo she's with Ben and pregnant. Not exactly a great track record for sticking with someone.

OH and the TOMCAT makes me ill. What a lovely example he sets for his children get the girl pregnant after knowing her for mere months then marry her maybe eventually. :earboy2:

I agree. Meryl Streep has been married to her husband forever, and Goldie and Kurt, not married but might as well be. And Mel Gibson's another who's been married forever.

I think some people have a more realisitic approach to life in general.

Anne

Alan Alda is another one with a longtime marraige. Bob Newhart, Don Rickles , I know there are more, I just can't think of them right now

Tony Martin and Cyd Charisse were married in 1948 and are still married today. :)

I read an article somewhere that quoted Nick Lachey on all the press coverage and how it was affecting his marriage negatively.

I was sad to hear about their split - but Stinkerbelle as a point - he prob did just marry her to sleep with her...

They dated for 2 or 3 years before they got married. How many guys in todays world are willing to wait that long to sleep with someone. I'd like to believe he didn't just marry her to sleep with her.

I didn't know they were still alive! (I'm sorry, I couldn't resist.)

Dolly Parton has been married forever to the same man.

Jon Bon Jovi married his high school girfriend a long time ago (can't remember exactly, but it's +10 years.) Although I'm sure he had his share of fun first.

In both cases, those spouses and families are way out of the spotlight.

Celebrities with normal marriages (and as posted above, there are a lot of them) are as boring as the rest of us with normal marriages. Why would anyone write about them? Angerina and Brad are MUCH more interesting!

That's an awfully dumb reason to marry someone. I think he did love her, a guy doesn't wait that long just to sleep with someone by marriage, he waits that long because he loves her. IMHO. I think little Miss Jessica needs to pick up "The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands". I started reading that and man oh man, just from watching Newlyweds, she needs this book. :teeth:

Too funny. I agree completely!

Also, I think that many Hollywood marriges last if the celebrity has dated and known the person for at least a few years. Take Gwen Stefani for example. She and her husband, Gavin Rossdale, dated for 6 years before marrying in 2002. Yet those who date for like a month and marry a month later, don't really seem to last. Take Kenny Chesney for example. He married Renee Zelweger after only knowing her for a few months. Now they're filed for divorce. Also, I think paparatzi [sp?] might also have to do with celebrity divorces.

One couple that comes to mind for me that has somewhat stayed out of the spotlight for now is Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillipe. They seemed to be really focused on raising their family.

What about John Travolta, hasn't he been with his wife for a while. (Sorry don't know her name)
