any thoughts on this place? we are eating there for the first time this uncoming trip.

btw, I was able to get a 6:10 fantasmic PS for 5/10....so they are starting to open up later times if anyone needs one around that day

I think the Brown Derby may just be my and DH's favorite place to eat in all of Disney, definitely the best of MGM. WHatever you do - get the grapefruit cake for dessert (it's big enough to share) - it is too die for. We've got a PS there for FDP also but since ours isn't until July we're stuck with a 4:00 PS right now, last year I think I ended up with a 6:00 one so here's hoping.

good, glad to hear

its the lamb chop dish on the menu that had me sold

looks like its lamb twice that week....because I always goto marrakesh for some

DH and I really love the Cobb salad and as already mentioned whatever you do remember to save room for the grapefruit cake. :)

does this cake taste like grapefruit? because I despise grapefruit

The whole menu is good, I've never had anything I regretted -- the staff is wonderful, atmosphere is fantastic.

We like it -- can you tell? Definitely the best at MGM, one of the best in WDW.

I have a 4 pm FDP at Brown Derby for May 30th...just called...nothing later open yet (also, sold out).

I despise grapefruit also, but I LOVED the grapefruit cake. It's a white (or yellow-I can't remember) cake with a grapefruit/cream cheese frosting. It tastes citrus-y, but not sour.

DS and I ate a great lunch there with an Imagineer. The selections were regular menu items and we thought they were great. Did not have the grapefruit cake but a divine cheesecake :flower: Enjoy!

Brown Derby is definitely my favorite place to eat in all of the World. I love the flourless chocolate cake though -- absolutely to die for! Eat the Cobb Salad first though then you don't feel so guilty about all the chocolate at dessert!

I had my first PS there over Easter week. They fouled up the reservation by giving it to a couple that had come in from the street. My daughter and I were sitting waiting at the time. I don't know how the mix up happened but we had to wait 40 minutes. I wouldn't mind but we had a 5PM PS and rushed from Animal Kingdom back to VWL to get there in time for the Fastasmic package. The wait staff managed to get us served and finished in time to enter the show with the general public but it was terribly rushed. That soured me a little on the restaurant but I will try them again. Though pricey the food was some of the best I've had in Disney. The tuna is absolutely delicious and the grapefruit cake was very good.
Getting hungry!! :Pinkbounc

That's funny, I love grapefruit, but wasn't too thrilled with their grapefruit cake. I think it was the cream cheese frosting.

I love their cobb salad, and it's a very nice atmosphere. Would love to go again!

I called last night and got a 6:20 PS for FDP for 5/11 so things are definitely opening up! Looks like we'll miss you by a day (and 10 minutes)!

This will be our 4th visit to WDW, but our first time eating at the Brown Derby and I'm really looking forward to it. I'm not a big fan of grapefruit but I'm planning to try the grapefruit cake based on all the good reviews it gets on these boards.

We really like the Brown Derby for lunch. I love the coconut shrimp and I also love the oriechette pasta dish. Dh always goes for the veggie/tofu thing. We have never tried the grapefruit cake. It can be nice to sit outside if it's not too hot, but we also like the atmosphere inside. We never miss the BD when we are there.

I adore that pasta dish too. I wish it was on the dinner menu.

If your DH "always goes for the veggie/tofu thing", I hope that means it's very tasty! My DH and I are vegetarians so seeing the Thai Noodle Bowl with Coconut Crusted Tofu on the menu got our attention. It can be difficult to find a vegetarian meal that includes protein, so I'm looking forward to trying this.

We use to go to the Brown Derby every trip but we were not pleased the last 2 times. The Cobb salad is wonderful, but the rest of our meals didn't keep us enthused.

I had the Thai noodle bowl with Coconut crusted tofu when we went in Jan for our FDP 4:00pm PS (this back when fantasmic started at 7pm so it was an early dinner/late lunch) and thought that it was wonderfully tasty! The tofu was just right, since I can be really picky when it comes to tofu (I hate when it is too mushy and drenched). :goodvibes

I also have to agree with the grapefruit cake, very tasty and not sour at all. ;)

I'm glad to hear this! I am a bit picky about tofu, too. I prefer it firm and chewy rather than soft and slimy. Thanks for the feedback!
