Hi, we will be at SSR for the first time ever from sat after xmas. thru Jan 2. 2009 . What park and non-park activities can we look forward to with 6 and 9 yo. girls?? Is there a better location to try and request there?? Are the pools heated-swimmable that time of year? Any holiday, NY.Eve or special things we should not miss this time of the year. This will be our first disney Holiday trip. Thanks:santa:

You could request the Grandstand area. It has a heated pool, hot tub and water area. We stayed at SSR when our daughter celebrated her 10thprincess: birthday. We stayed in a different section but this Grandstand area was a nice area with the pool as a bonus. Just a short walk to the main bldg and large pool with a slide.

Dont miss Osborne Spectacle of lights we could do this multiple times. It is fun to watch them flip the switch but it is crowded. If you wait a while or come later this street is much less crowded:scared1: . Don't miss the MVMCP Parade and fireworks. If you are there btw Christmas and New Years you won't need to buy MVMCP tkts to see this.

We visit the different resorts to see the decorations and Gingerbread houses.:cheer2:

See you there!! :thumbsup2 We will be home on Dec.29th thru Jan. 2nd then off to Universal for 3 days.:cool1:

We stayed one December night at SSR and walked to DTD. There were plenty of decorations, and local community groups were doing entertainment. The music of the Candlelight Processional was piped in. The lights, the atmosphere, getting pictures taken by the statues by the Christmas shop, it was wonderful. We had never appreciated DTD before, and it was just a walk away from our room. Very nice.

Walk around the Boardwalk area and check out the decorations at the resorts. BWV, BC, YC, S&D, they all have special things. Check out the resort's activity schedule. Bell choirs, choral groups, musicians from the area come to the resorts, on the Village Green. You can enjoy lots of different free things this time of the year!

At AKV, last year, they had "decorate an ostrich egg" for a fee. I am sorry that I didn't do it, couldn't fit it in.

Also maybe you don't ordinarily go for the Parade at AK, but don't miss the Jingle Parade they have...it really is good!!! Different and very creative.

This is our first time for NYE, we arrive on the 28th and stay until Jan. 2nd. We did get CP reservations for the 30th. That's my only disappointment with this year's plans...I would like to do that before Christmas, and usually we go twice! I need more points, and DH needs more vacation time!
