Holiday Vent Station

It's really hard to have a snow day this time of year when you're "down to the wire" and still have so much to do.. I don't think you are alone in your frustrations..:goodvibes

I don't really have anything to complain about - even though I still have a lot of things to do.. But if the power goes out again like it did last week and I can't do my Christmas cookie baking with my DGD tomorrow, I'll be complaining BIG time!!!! LOL..

Another thing I am grateful for then! We have ice on top of snow, but nothing like the Northeast, and we haven't lost power. That would be really frightening in this cold.

Off to put the lasagna together and then some cleaning. Good luck with your stuff!

I agree; I'm glad to at least have power. Once we lose our power out here in these kinds of conditions it's a bare minimum of a week (and up to three for some) before we have it back. :scared: I do have a generator and it is full of gas, but there's two miles of hills and S curves between me and the gas station once the first tank runs out. Not to mention that if I'm out of power the gas station usually is too, so they can't pump gas anyhow. Last time we lost power for 8 days (last year) we had to drive 17 miles before we got to a gas station that had power and still had gas.

 I hear ya. At least my kids are healthy thank goodness. But this is the third snow day, and now they aren't going back to school until Jan 5th. We have too much compacted snow and ice on the roads here (they don't plow or sand where I live) to get out of the house, I have Christmas presents sitting at the post office five miles away, and they will only hold them three days before they return them. Snow is supposed to stick around longer than that. The presents I do have I can't get wrapped because my kids are here. I planned to do that on Wednesday. Sigh...

Okay, one more response...

That's terrible to be so stranded! And considering the weather and Christmas, won't they hold packages longer than usual? I would sure hope so.

I hope you can get out soon.

I don't know if they will or not. It would be nice, but...you know the post office can be kinda anal about their regulations. :rotfl: I was thinking about seeing if I can find the local number and call the postmaster (ours is actually a postmistress but she says she doesn't get paid enough to be called a mistress :lmao: ) and ask her about it.

Okay I feel much better now. I just got off the phone with Joanne (the "postmistress") and she promised me that my packages will be there whenever I can finally get up there. Gotta love a small town.

Well that's one thing you can take off your stress list!

I'm hoping Jobird finished packing and all......:)

You know what else works really well? It's a canned spray cleaner called Power Shot or something like that. It's extremely powerful -- even got out dried in blood stains on a light-colored carpet after one of my dogs got hurt and bled everywhere.

Spot Shot. You can get it at Walmart. Works wonders.

I had red popsicle puke all over very light beige carpet once. Only faded to a light pink. Luckily Hurricane Katrina and her flood waters decided it was time for new carpet (and walls, and doors, and furniture, etc) for my home so I didnt have to keep trying to clean it.

Oh sorry, forgot my gripe. My SIL. She calls yesterday and says of course we are invited over for Christmas Eve as usual and what would I like to bring. I say how about dessert? She says "Okay a few desserts should be okay". A few?? How about ONE?? Whatever I bring, she and her extremely picky family never eat anyway. I once brought pies. I took home pies - whole pies. No one ate even one slice. Same thing the following year with cakes. So this year I am going to buy soemthing that MY family enjoys and when SILs family doesnt eat it, I will have dessert to bring home that will actually get eaten!

Very smart! Course if it's something you really like this year they'll decide to eat it.

I got everything done and all went well. Now I can relax a but more and wrap the rest of the gifts and do some baking. Thanks for the help all!

When I was a kid, had I "dramatically gagged" while taking medicine which caused me to puke on the carpet, my mother would have made me sit there cleaning that carpet.

That would have forever stopped dramatic gagging.

Now, were I really nauseated and puked on the carpet...different story. Then she would have felt sorry for me and cleaned the carpet herself.

My mother wasn't one much for dramatic antics.

I did get very irritated with her and lectured a bit later on how to be tougher and how to not give in to nausea when it's largely mental. My mom was very very stoic also!! And DD can be on the wimpy side, love her as I do.

But DD did have a 102.8 fever at the time so it's harder to be tough.

My Holiday vent.

Annual Christmas Get together at MIL's was yesterday. We usually eat around1pm or so. I had to work Sat AM & got off at noon.
(AND I had to go thru hoops to get off at noon-I was supposed towork until 1pm)

Far away SIL has a party last night-got to MIL's early-wanted to eat EARLY because their whole 'crew" left at 2:30...to drive back to their city.

We arrived at 12"40 to see everyone had eaten & had dessert (and I brought the HAM!)....my family served our plates -all the food was cold (they must have eaten at 11am!!)

All the presents had been opened-so I missed all the joy of the little Great grand kids openeing their gifts.

Oh well,(sigh)

Going to MIL's today and I can't wait to see everyone. However we are all "blah" feeling....

My vent is illness......Why can't we all be feeling great?:headache:

Not a huge vent but I want to FEEL TERRIFIC to enjoy everyone. My youngest has not been feeling well all week. I don't even know her problem.:confused3
