Do you tip your mail carriers and if so how much? I was thinking of giving a Christmas tip to our UPS driver. My husband orders a lot on the internet so he comes to our house often! I just dont know how much to do. Any suggestions?

When my husband owned a business, we did. Gave them lottery scratch tickets.

You will get many responses to this and to each his own - BUT as the wife of a mail carrier I say GIVE, GIVE, GIVE..:thumbsup2..:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Seriously, I give my carrier based on my service. My previous carrier was awesome and I gave him $20 - this year my carrier is getting $10.

If you time your mail carrier, but sure it is in the form of a gift card.

USPS Mail carrier Non-cash gifts with value up to $20. This is for mail carriers that you know and see regularly.*
*Civil servants are not allowed to receive cash tips. But if you wish to recognize your mail carrier, the U.S. Postal Service asks that your gratuity not exceed $20 in cash value.

We always give 20.00 and a gift basket. Our mail carrier is in his own vehicle and he really goes above and beyond any other carrier we've had....so we like to get him a little something.

We just moved in here in to our house at the end of October. I want to have a good relationship with the mail carrier (who also uses his own vehicle) so I am thinking of doing something. Seeing as we have only been here for 5 weeks ... should I go $10 GC or a scratch ticket and a little card introducing ourselves? The previous owners and two out of our 4 neighbors have been here over 30 years. So I am sure they know him/her!

We have a online store so our mailman picks up and drops off sometimes over a hundred packages a week.

He's awesome!

We give him subway gift cards.

I was in the same boat last year. Bought my house Dec 12. Even though I had only been here 12 days, I gave him $5 to set a good relationship. He left me a thank you card shortly after. He now rings my bell every time we have a package before walkin away. Not sure if he does it for every one, but I think it's nice.
On another note, also realize that you are setting the tone and I would feel obligated to give the same or more every year after.

I also tipped my garbage man and recycling man- different people. This year I am thinking $5 for garbage and recycling and $10 for mail.
