The chaos of this time of year official began black Friday (here in the States anyway). So now that things are slowing down to a dull roar, what hidden or hard to find Disney item are you on the hunt for?

Last year I tracked down a copy of Song of the South. This year I haven't come up with anything yet.

My son wants "accessories" for his monorail set ... the problem is that we have most of what is in regular production and looking on eBay everything is for collectors ... so I don't really want to pay collector prices for something a 4 year old will actually play with

I did manage to find a DCA Bridge, trolley, and character set for him, but just can justify $300 for a plastic Polynesian or something that he is likely to break

So crossed off my list now, but a few months ago I searched itunes for some classic park attraction tunes. I found quite a few between these 2 albums: "Walt Disney World Official Album" and "A Musical Tour: Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives". I didn't download the entire albums but some of my individual track picks included: Grim Grinning Ghosts, He's a Pirate, Yo Ho (A Pirate's Life for Me), There's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow, Soarin', Canada (You're a Lifetime Journey), Impressions de France & The Three Caballeros. Great to play in the background while planning my next trip. Also a relatively inexpensive treat for yourself or someone close to you for the Holidays. Check them out.

Someone once got me a boxed set of CD's that was Disney's Movie, Television, Park Classics (one disk per). The Park classics had several of the ones you mention - plus Main Street Electrical Parade, which is how I first learned of it.

For me, I just always have on my list those hard to find animated movies on at least DVD - the ones I inevitably have to go to YouTube to find. So Saludos Amigos & Three Caballeros. Song of The South would be a good one as well.

The terribly hard DVD for me to find for purchase is The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh/Alias Dr. Syn (1963) starring Pat McGoohan. It desperately needs to be re-released from the Disney Vault but likely not enough popular interest to make it commercially viable. I saw it as a child on the CBC's Wonderful World of Disney on Sunday nights. I then happened across it by accident on satellite approx 10 yrs ago but didn't have PVR then. Thrilling & scary & classic & English all rolled into one. But bizarrely expensive to buy on the collector's market.

An easy & usually cheap as chips DVD to find is The Three Lives of Thomasina (1963) also with Pat McGoohan. This is an easy gift for the cat lover in your life or those with children who adore cats. Can usually find it for under $15 on amazon. My nieces adored it & took the DVD to school for a snow day class viewing. I play it every other year. For some reason, I always think of Teresa when I watch it. She would go kitten bananas over this movie. :-)
