I am looking at planning a trip the first week in November and am wondering when the rides like HM, IASW, and SpM go down for holiday things to be put in or taken out. My DD's birthday is the third and we'd like to see some of the Halloween stuff, but it's not essential. I just don't want the rides to all be closed because they are being switched over. Are there set dates for those changes and how long do they typically last?

IASW will be closed to add to Xmas overlay.
HM will be open in holiday mode (lasts Halloween and Xmas)
SpM switched from Halloween back to reg version on Nov. 1 last year, it was only down for a day.

The Halloween decor should be down by Nov 3 and Xmas will start going up.

We have been there over Veteran's Day and IASW Holiday has been open.

Yes. It opens right around vets day, but closes the last week of October. I think oct 26 last year until nov 13? So almost three weeks.

Here’s some info about IASWH.

From ’03 to ’07, they closed IASW on the second-to-last Monday in October, and it usually took 18 days to install the holiday overlay. In ’09, they closed IASW on the last Monday in October.

Here are some previous dates that IASW was down to install the IASW Holiday overlay, based on MP’s weekly DLR updates:

2009: Oct. 26 (Mon.) to Nov. 12 (Thurs.) (18 days)
2007: Oct. 22 (Mon.) to Nov. 8 (Thurs.) (18 days)
2006: Oct. 23 (Mon.) to Nov. 9 (Thurs.) (18 days)
2005: Oct. 24 (Mon.) to Nov. 10 (Thurs.) (18 days)
2004: Oct. 18 (Mon.) to Nov. 4 (Thurs.) (18 days)
2003: Oct. 20 (Mon.) to Nov. 7 (Fri.) (19 days)

In 2008, IASW was closed for a major refurb (Jan. 22 to late-November).

Last year they announced the refurb/overlay dates in mid-September.

We went the first week in Nov. 09 and it was FAB! SPGG was open the day we got there - but FP's were gone and no one wanted to stand in the 2 hour line so we didn't see it. SM was closed the next day, but opened up the following day and we rode it a LOT during our 5 days in DLR.

If we didn't have to worry about a college student and a High School student we would go the first week in Nov. again in a minute. It was fun to see the Halloween stuff come down and the Christmas stuff go up. We would watch to see what had changed while we were sleeping. :)

Crowds were low and hours were short so we included weekend days to see some of the entertainment like Aladdin and the fireworks and Fantasmic. It worked great for us and we rode everything we wanted to multiple times. The only thing we really missed when we were there was IASW. For us that is the only downside of going then.

we went during that time last year too. I did miss IASW, but something will always be closed whenever you go. The crowds were great! The only thing was taping the Christmas parade. I just avoided it since they would rope off certain areas.
