Hello, me and my wife are going to econo lodge gateway resort next year,we have never been to wdw before,so what do we need to plan for this holiday,we are going for two weeks what are the main thing we should do and where is the best places to buy your ticket for wdw parks, Cheers Ian

Hi Ian and welcome to the Dis.

Two weeks in WDW sounds like a long time but there is so much to do the time gets used up easily. You really need to do some research before you go and prioritise which parks you really want to do and which you are not so bothered about. If you try to see absolutely everthing you will kill yourselves.

There is an amazing amount of information on these boards to help you. In the two weeks you should easily be able to do all the Disney theme parks as well as Universal and Seaworld. Other options are Kennedy Space Center and Busch Gardens - if you have time.

With regard to tickets. These can be bought online from various sites or from your travel agent. There are no massive discounts to be had, unfortunately, but it is a good idea to buy before you go so you avoid queueing when you get to the parks. Which tickets you buy depends on what parks you want to spend your time in. There are multi-day tickets for both Disney and Universal/Seaworld.

The site I use for tickets is www.ticketmania.com. I'm sure other people will have a few more suggestions for you.

Feel free to ask questions on the boards. These guys know pretty much everything there is to know between them!!

When are you going next year?

 Hi Ian and welcome to the Boards:D

One HUGE tip I would recommend is the purchase of The Brit's Guide to Orlando (currently 2002 version, but late November 2003 should be out). Author - Simon Veness. Simon is one of the Mods on these boards so is often around to answer questions here, too.

The book will help to plan your time in WDW - gives great description of the parks, rides, best days to go for crowds, weather, restaurants, US-speak and tips on all sorts of things.

Other than that, life Sue says, just keep asking away on here - there's always someone who knows the answer and we're quite a friendly bunch:D ;)

Welcome aboard Ian :) :) :)

I would firstly find out as much as you can about the parks to see what would appeal to you both and then work out what passes you'll require.

Take a look at our fixed info at www.wdwinfo.com There are a variety of passes for the Disney parks, described on this link :
http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/tickets.htm
As well as the four main theme parks, you also have the Disney water parks.

Then you have the two Universal parks to consider, Sea World and the park where you can swim with the dolphins - Discovery Cove, plus Busch Gardens over near Tampa, and the popular wter park, Wet'n Wild.

A couple of questions so that we can help more - are you big ride lovers? Do you like water parks?

Is it just the two of you without children? Then you would also enjoy Pleasure Island and we can recommend some other palces for the evening too.

Please do fire questions at us - and if you see any abbreviations that you want explaining please tell us.

Thanks for your reply, yes it is just me and the wife going and we love all the big and fast rides, will pop down the book shop on tuesday and buy the book........look like i better start too plan for this holiday......many thanks Ian

HI IAN

I can only echo on the book thing, the brit guide was like the bible for me. My boyfriend and i went to orlando for the first time in may and totally fell in love with the place, we decided we wanted to go again before we got home, and within two weeks had booked for next year and we have bought annual passes, so intend on going quite a few times yet!! My boyfriend did'nt even want to go!!! try and read and ask as many questions as you can, to get loads of knowledge before you go. Be prepared to be amazed and totally shattered. two weeks is no where near enough time.
have great fun planning!!

sam
