Anyone ever stay at the H.I. 'Kidsuites' Sunspree Resort. We'll be staying there in Feb. 2003 with 4 & 6 year old "first timers". Can't wait!!!!

I'd love to hear your reports.

We stayed there in 2000, and while it had been fairly recently remodeled it was still old. We found their "food court" to be a joke, we didn't eat there once in 8 days. The pool is large and it was alot of fun. We love the location, as a matter of fact we stayed at the Courtyard right next door in 2001. The Sunspree wasn't the kind of hotel that would ruin a vacation, it just wasn't what we expected. I have seen others who liked it. For us we just prefer something different from what the Sunspree was. I would add that in the Kidsuites, the walls don't go all the way to the ceiling so if both TVs are on they do compete with each other.

I agree with poster above, also stayed in 2000, wouldnt stay there again.

It was just okay at best.

Try the Holiday Inn family Suites. It is newer and the Kids bedroom area is closed of much better. The web site is www.HIFS.com Check it out I think you will like it much better.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I'm in a panic now, but trying to stay calm as I've been told that there was a big renovation job done in 2001. I have a Floridian friend going to Orlando in a week or two and I'm going to ask him to call to see the place to check it out!

Thanks again!

I stayed there about 4 years ago and it was fine. We loved having a microwave and frig. There was good security. I never eat in the hotels anyway so having leftovers in the room was perfect. We are staying there for 7 nights again Dec 27-Jan 3. It's close to the parks and shopping!! Don't panic!!:jester: :jester:

Sorry, I didn't mean to panic you. They weren't quite finished with the renovation when we were there in 2000, they were painting the exterior while we were there as a matter of fact. However the room renovations were complete. Like I said it wasn't a ruin your vacation kinda place, it just wasn't the type of place I prefer. In spite of the room renovations it still felt like an old hotel with new bedspreads. The 1 inch gap under the door didn't do much to help the feeling. For us it was essentially just a place to sleep so it wasn't a big deal. It just that after staying there, we wouldn't go back. If it was really bad we would have checked out and found a new place, which we didn't do.

We had a similar experience to Hockeydad. We would not stay there again. Are you locked in to staying there or something? I don't think a friend stopping by for you will really tell you as much as those who have actually stayed there. I know we thought it looked pretty good before staying there.

If you can change your hotel, it would be best. This is a very old hotel, with many coats of paint to make it appear "fresh." There are many newer hotels with family activities and larger rooms that have been built. For those of us who have stayed here, most would not return. My family experienced a room that had stained carpets(we wore our shoes everywhere in the room), we could not allow our children on the floor. The rooms had a "musty" odor as if the rooms had been flooded and allowed to dry over time. We managed to endure 1 night here, could not take anymore. The food court was filthy, the public areas were dirty. The concept of "family suites" was tested and perfected here, but the hotel was sold by the group that developed this concept.
