It was august 2001, although I know somebody on the boards went very recently and said the same as me!.
again it all boils down to what standards you have, having paid a small fortune(before DIS), i was very disapointed, although the foyer is very nice and welcoming the inside isnt, the arcade they mention, is just a small room with a few machines in, very dark and dismal!, the staff arent the best, and twice we had a coach company phone to check our reservations for kennedy twice to be told we werent even in the hotel!.
Dispite complaining all we got was a free meal in there restaurant.
Even with the prospect of renervations, i would still give it a wide berth(condeming it would have been kinder!!).
Seriously everybodys taste is differant, I wouldnt say I was fussy, But i do expect things to be clean, and Ive travelled to alot of places but this was definately the worst by far( I hope you proove me wrong though!!!)
This time we have a villa which we know is of high standard. The restaurants nearby are excellent, Bennegans, and Landreys(landreys is very popular), also Bahamma breeze, if nothing else try and eat at these places, theres also a big discount jeans store directly opposite Holiday Inn Sunspree.
Oh and another word of advise, dont listen to the chap on the counter who chats to people about the WDW parks, he advises against getting to the parks early!!(obviously havent read simons book!)and obviously doesnt know how strong us brits are.
Again its your choice, but I know there are a couple of better hotels in close proximity to Holiday inn(its nothing like on the website or in the holiday brochure!!!).
