Any advice for staying at the Holiday Inn and Suites on South Walnut?

We're heading there next week. Also, any advice for taking the Disneyland Express from SNA to the hotel? From what I gathered from the brochure, we'll need to take the shuttle to the #7 stop, and either grab a cab or walk to the hotel? I admit, the Holiday Inn Anaheim ( S. Manchester Ave) vs. Holiday Inn and Suites (S. Walnut) confused me for a moment, but I think I've gotten straightened out.

Another member of our traveling party made the decision, so we're going with it ! Can't wait either way.

So any information anyone has, I would greatly appreciate it !

We stayed there two years ago and really liked it. It's a very nice, quiet walk to the parks. You actually have three options for walking.
1. Walk to the tram at Mickey & Friends parking structure: 10 mins
2. Walk to the Downtown Disney Monorail Station: 15 mins
3. Walk all the way to the Disneyland main entrance: 20mins
When we were there, I did #3 each day. 8am and after midnight. Others in our group took the other options, and even one lazy member of our group had to take a cab back to the hotel. The ART Bus stops in front of the hotel as well. We never drove our vehicle once we got there. But the hotels charges a daily parking fee, which I wasn't a huge fan of, but what are you going to do.

They were in the process of completing their small water playground when we were there. We did not use the pool or the restaurants. The rooms were comfortable. I hope you have a great trip.

That is my go to hotel off site. Predictably mediocre as I like to say...nothing special but clean decent rooms. I like it cuz it is tucked away back from the hustle and bustle of the resort district and usually pretty quiet. They have a decent restaurant for breakfast or any other non park meal. As noted above you have the three walking options...we have found it quickest just to huff it all the way to the main gates on foot.

I too am guilty of grabbing a cab at DTD back to the hotel one trip where we were all absolutely beat.

You will walk down S. Walnut to Magic Way and turn left. From there you can cut across to the M&F tram or to DTD entering by ESPN Zone.

I never take it...but it might also be on the ART route.

Thank you for the advice. Exactly what I needed to hear ! Called Disneyland Express and got my question about that answered, and bought tickets. Just have to look forward to Wednesday morning !

Thanks for posting. We are staying here in August. Just dh and I so we will walk. I paid $15 for both of us to eat breakfast at the restaurant. Has anyone eaten there? I figure $15 for 2 people is cheaper than places in DTD.

Yeah...the restaurant there is actually pretty good for breakfast. Lot of good options and a great alternative to on site or DTD food...especially if you get two of ya for $15.

We stayed there 2 years ago and it was perfectly good. I will give high props to the staff... Everyone we dealt with was excellent! The restaurant is good and the kids eat free deal is great if you have little ones. We had a 4 & 5 year old and the wall was a bit long for them, but perfectly doable for adults. We took the art a few times as well. Enjoy your trip!

We just got back from DL and stayed here.

The walk from the hotel to the park gates was about 20 minutes. We walked at a steady pace.

We did ride the ART bus. It was route 11 and made 2 other stops before getting to the gate. The bus picked up people about every 20 minutes. The ride took about 15 minutes from the hotel to the gate. It was nice to ride back to the hotel after being in the park all day.

just stayed there a couple weeks ago; really nice place for the price! clean rooms, really confortable beds, close proximity to the parks, a real nice find

only downside is that breakfast isn't free, but hey, that's minor
