Has anyone stayed at the Holiday Inn Nikki Bird? How close is it? How is the food? transportation? Kid Suites? We have two kids - age 5 and almost 2. I have heard good things about HIFS but it is much more expensive. We plan to go at the end of March. Thanks for any info!

Nikki Bird is pretty basic Holiday Inn in a great location just a short drive to disney. There is a big all you can eat Lobster and Prime rib Buffet in the motel as well as a small diner..lots of other restaurants and Buffets like Ponderosa, Golden Corral and Sizzler within a couple of minutes...If the price is really good, like 40 a night or less, It would be an OK deal...any more than that and you can do better elsewhere...Not sure what the budget is, but a 3 star hotel in "Disney vicinity" on Priceline for about 40 dollars would be a great deal and they have some great properties close to Disney.....good luck...Ted

I stayed there and did not like it. My comments are in detail in another similar thread a few pages back... Just don't want to type it all up again ;)

We were there back in 97 for our honeymoon and it was fine. We really liked the Angels Cafe for burgers and they provided transportation to and from the parks.

Now, after staying at a AS Sports, I'd much rather stay onsite than back at the nikki bird, but considering how much time we were actually at the hotel, it was decent.

Have fun no matter what you decide! :Pinkbounc

I stayed at the Nikki Bird last year and it was a decent hotel. It is a bit dated but I enjoyed it. They have 3 big swimming pools, the buffet is good for breakfast and dinner, and the staff is some of the best I have encountered. It is very close to Disney World as well. It is only a few hundred yards from one of the main roads going into Disney World.

The KidSuites would be good for your 2 and 5 year old. The bunk beds are fairly small but shouldn't be a problem for kids of that age. A KidSuite will probably run around $70-80 depending on when you are traveling.

They have a shuttle that runs to Disney World but if possible I would rent a car. It is much nicer to work off of your schedule as opposed to theirs.

For some pictures and information try this site: http://www.walt-disney-world-vacation-packages.com It has quite a bit of information about the hotel and what it offers.

Thanks for all the help. We have finally booked a hotel - we went with HIFS. There were just too many positive reviews for us to resist staying there!

I have never stayed at HIFS, but all I remember about the Nikki Bird was they were remodeling and we called it the Icky Bird.
