Just curious if anyone out there has any opinions regarding the Holiday Inn Maingate East??? I am not looking for luxury for this trip. We just need a clean room and I would really like one that is not too run down. Any opinions would be appreciated. This is a budget trip for us with my Mother. They have a suite with a private bedroom area that would work for us. Please help me make this decision.
Thanks!

I'll be able to tell you in October! We have reservations there, but have never been before.

We stayed there in Feb in a 1 bedroom suite and enjoyed it. The exterior of the hotel leaves a little to be desired, but that didn't bother us. The interior was freshly painted and nicely decorated with decent wood furniture. The kitchen area was pretty large, with a wrap around bar to eat at with upholstered bar stools, microwave, and small mini-fridge and LOTS of storage. There were two beds in the bedroom and an actual pull-down murphy bed in the living area. And when it was up, this gave lots of floor space. Management and maintenance were both attentive and prompt (we had our fridge replaced). I'd stay there again before HIFS.

Good value property, well priced and well run. Excellent location and lots to do there. Some of the older regular rooms were looking a little tired the last time I was there (bit more than a year ago) but the suites are a relatively recent addition and all well furnished. You can do a lot worse at their rates.

TinkerChelle,

I couldn't find any discounts for HI East, but I did find the best rates at http://www.floridakiss.com
I CALLED the hotel directly and asked if I could have that rate. The first girl said she couldn't do anything (Never accept the first offer!) so I called back a few days later and another girl gave me the best rate. So gather your info and call them.
Good luck,

Well we stayed there last summer and it was a little less than desired. Sure the price was O.K., but there was no "magic" to speak of. Of course if you are just looking for a place to "crash" then this would serve you fine. We have three small children and the pool seemed dirty and the "playground" (not like we needed one) was splintering and we would not allow the children on it because there was an almost definite that they would get a splinter. As far as me and my DH we tried the hot tub one night and NEVER returned. It was slimy and dirty and I refused to enter it. The room was a kidsuite and that was the best part of the hotel. The room was a little smaller than anticipated (we have bigger hotel rooms in our small towns up here) The kids did likethe "seperate" room that the suite offered.

As far as entering the hotel, there is a "kid" check-in, yet when we were there the person running this part was not there and then when they di come by they did not even talk to our kids, yet over them to us. They were very rude if I have to say.

Anyways...we did not have good experience with them and will not be returning to this resort again. I would also never take my mother there.

Just my humble opinion.
