Hi! We will be taking or first Halloween trip to Disneyland in a few weeks and I am wondering about the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites. Has anyone stayed there? Is it walking distance to Disneyland? Pros/cons? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated! :cool1:

I have stayed there and there are pros and cons. The rooms are not bad, nice decor, spacey too. The pool looked nice outside, but I did not swim on our trip. It is not exactly walking distance but they do have a ART system and you can buy tickets at the hotel counter. The transit was not as bad as I expected, but since my DD is still young enough for a stroller I find it to be a hassle. I will say I would never stay there again because of 2 experiences. 1) I found a crack pipe (used of course) under one of the beds in the room. Ewwww!! I took it to the manager immediately. 2) We had to call hotel security on 2 different nights due to cars parked outside of our room with loud music ( the bass shook our windows) late at night. Honestly it seemed to have a party hotel atmosphere to me. I am looking for family-friendly hotels. If you don't plan to be in your room much it may suffice, but for me..I would pass on it!

I've stayed there twice, for 2 nights each time. I found it to very clean & comfortable. I booked through priceline both times and ended up paying about $45/night.

I didn't like having to take the ART, but it wasn't too bad. We have parking now with our passes so I would just park at the Toy Story Lot.

Eww, crack pipe thats gross, but it could happen at any hotel I think personally.

Its not really within walking distance I think, it would be one big long walk.

Unless I won this hotel through priceline, I don't think I would necessarily pay the Rack Rate on this hotel, I'd opt for HOJO instead.
HTH.

Thanks for your replies! I'll keep looking. But OMG a crack pipe!! That's sooooo gross, but hopefully it was resolved :D Thanks again!

I read a TR a long time back and could sum up thier hotel experience there with the words, deceptive proximity to the parks. It's next to DLR but about as far as could be.

They found out they can walk down Walnut St, and make a left into disney parking on Magic Way. On the west side of the lot on your left is the tram pickup area. Taking the tram will save steps but may not time. You can also go strait down Magic Way and make a right on the sidewalk on the other side of Disneyland Dr. This sidewalk will take you into DTD and through there is the parks.

Thanks for your reply! I have one more question, how long would it take to walk to Downtown Disney from the hotel? Google maps says about 10 minutes, but I'm wondering if this is accurate in real life. Thank you!

I'm going to say 15-20. But like I mentioned you can take the trams, but with the tram timing it right so as you get on it goes, and not having to wait for another tram is tricky.

We just stayed there over Labor day weekend for the 1/2 marathon. WE LOVE IT! My expectations were low, but we didn't care because it was a short trip that wasn't going to be spent at the hotel at all.

We ended up being pleasantly surprised! Nice rooms, very comfortbable beds, quiet, indoor hallways, plenty of parking, nice pool area, and a short walk (for us) to the mickey and friends tram.

An example of a short walk for us is from Hojo to the front gates, a long walk (but still doable) for us is from Sheraton Park hotel on Harbor.

They were completely booked that weekend and yet we didn't see one person in the hallway, nor did we see anyone even walking to the tram. Like I said, very quiet and not crowded at all. Very secluded.

The tram may take up some time but at least you're not stuck at crosswalks with mobs of people. Just something to think about.

DH and I have stayed there a couple of times and really liked it. We found it quiet, except about an hour before the parks open in the morning or so when the Mickey & Friends structure is super busy. Our window faced the structure. We did drive to the parks, but we may have considered walking if we knew it was an option. We would consider staying there again, we just prefer to be on harbor and walk.
