Holiday Express Maingate at Disneyland

Hi All:

Great forum.

We are making our first trip to DL the last week of March/07. We are looking for lodging and need advice. We are looking to stay 5 nights and this hotel is close.

Is the HI Express Maingate (on Katella) a nice hotel?

Any problems?

Good reputation?

Safe?

Good breakfast?

Clean rooms?

Clean pool?

Would you recommend it?

If not, what hotel in a similar price range can you suggest?

Any help or opinion is very welcome.

Hey folks:

Really, any information would be helpful to us. This is our first trip and a bad hotel can make a great vacation, sour.

We have been to WDW many times and want to experience Walt's original.

That Holiday Inn is fairly close, but I've seen a lot of buzz about Candy Cane Inn, which is even closer and on the same block as DLR, and Howard Johnson's (HoJo's), which is roughly equidistant but in a unique location - right across the street from Tomorrowland and with a great view of the fireworks (YMMV). Being a local I've never stayed at these places - I'd second the advice to look at tripadvisor.com for a variety of opinions.
