Holiday cookie trays

Phew, finished my DD's party last night, and it was a huge hit! I was happy to see nothing "failed", and that for the cookies, I actually had about equal leftovers of each (so there was enough, but they weren't skipped:). For the cocoa, I also didn't have any fail toppings, and apparently for one teen with braces, I had the perfect ones b/c she made an ice-cream-less sundae with 2 types of marshmallows, whipped cream, chocolate syrup, and a cherry (she got braces last week and they still give her some soreness).

For 11 kids (9 teens and my 2 youngest who did not do the murder mystery), I had:
Ghiradelli Double Chocolate Mix with almost a gallon of milk for the hot cocoa - that was all gone
Cocoa Toppings/Accompaniments - Peppermint Candycanes, Cherry Candycanes, Large Marshmallows, Small Marshmallows, Hersehy's Chocolate Syrup, Whipped Cream, A 6 type sprinkle shaker, Maraschino Cherries with Stems, Paper Straws
Bottled Water (for after cocoa)
Pretzels (to cut all the sweet)
Cookies - Caramel Potato Chip Pretzel, Snickerdoodles, Triple Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Hazelnut

I think I spent about $25 at Party City (I got all paper products, even hot beverage paper cups, and some sweet 16 decorations) and and probably $65-75 for the groceries, although I have leftovers of the cookies and almost all the cocoa toppings, so it's not as large OOP (although the marshmallows were gone). Since my spouse designed the murder mystery, that was free, so it was a very nice party that lasted from 6:45pm-10:30pm, with no one getting bored or starving (but yet the parents said they weren't jumping off the walls from sugar highs)...So, win/win party. Now, I've been told I need to do this again in the summer for my next daughter and her birthday, so I'm thinking about it. Since this was my 2nd type party for this age group, I've hit the "not too much/not too little" mark for food/decorations/fun - last year was make-your-own sundaes and root beer floats, now we did cookies and make-your-own cocoa...if I do summer, I might do an (iced) tea party concept or make your own shortcake concept, but I'll need to convince my spouse to make the mystery match the theme, like the last 2 years:)...

PS - I will say dessrt-ish themes done later at night help keep the costs down and make folks available (since last year, all my RSVPs said yes, and this year, I only had 3 no's...which I know isn't the norm)...
