Holiday Annual Purchases or Splurges

I only buy jumbo lump crabmeat at the holidays.

At anywhere from 15.00-20.00 a lb it only gets done once a year lol!

I make a green goddess crab dip with it, the big lumps of crabmeat are heavenly , I also make a corn and crab bisque for xmas day, but this year I think I will do a seafood gumbo instead and it will have crabmeat in it too.

Can I come to your house please??

I buy crabmeat too. There's a crab dip I make with cream cheese, served hot. My mom loves it, so I make it for Christmas Eve.

We went to Chick Fil A the other night and got the new Peppermint/chocolate chip milkshake. This is a total splurge since I have gestational diabetes and am not supposed to have any. But a treat once in a while is not bad!

Our traditions are somewhat different. We buy a new ornament every year. It started because my decorations got lost in a move. We just bought a bunch of colored bulbs but I like all the different ornaments. So every year we would get a new one. Then I lost almost everything to Hurricane Ivan. So we had to start all over again.

Since DBF and I have been together, we take a trip out to Build A Bear every year just before Christmas. It is so much fun! The closest one is 3 hours away so it is an all day trip. DS always gets a bear, we do lunch and wander around all the shops.

No matter where we lived, it wouldn't be the Holidays without Danish Kringle from Racine WI on Christmas morning or Frango Mints from Field's (I know it's Macy's now but it will always for Field's to me)

We all get to pick our dinner that we'll make on New Years Eve--- my son usually picks crab legs- which I don't buy otherwise.

Christmas Eve, it's always a movie and Chinese dinner for us (brought home and eaten around the tree while watching some Christmas show!)

DD got married this summer so I'm not sure how the traditions will change but I hope they can still join us for our movie and dinner!

Our big spluge is a humongous tray of Chic-fil-A nuggets for our family Christmas party. Everyone seems to enjoy it.

I always get SO excited when the seasonal Edy's Slow-Churned ice creams hit the stores around here. Love the peppermint, pumpkin, and egg nog flavors, but haven't seen the egg nog one yet. I'm starting to get worried they won't make it this year.

MMMM.....the pumpkin is SO good. Sounds a little strange, but it is very yummy.

My mom always used to buy Mrs. Prindable's apples, but this is our first Christmas without her, so I think I will carry on the tradition.

I know what you mean about allowing cookies, pies and anything else sugary in the house. If I didn't limit myself to the month of December I'd be a hot mess.

Not a splurge, but something can't live without during Christmas time: Williams-Sonoma Peppermint Bark. OMG - delicious!!

I like peppermint anything - so I find the holidays a great time to get peppermint ice cream, hot cocoa, etc.

I LOVE their peppermint bark! William and Sonoma is so overpriced, IMHO, but I adore their pasta sauces and that BARK is to die for.
