Holding question

Hello folks! We have an upcoming trip that we may need to cancel at the last minute. Unfortunately our use year ends soon as well, so the points would be in jeopardy. If we have an April use year, can we book a trip with points in holding that starts at the end of March and stretches into April, or is April 1 our hard deadline? Our child won a prestigious competition and the awards ceremony coincides with our trip. I’m feeling MAJOR parental guilt at the idea of either missing the ceremony or making my child miss out!

March 31st is the hard deadline. You might want to try and rent it out as a confirmed reservation

If I was you - I’d call Member Services and explain - never hurts to try.

Just wanted to clarify a bit.

With an April UY you need to checkout no later than April 1st 2025.

Also if points are in holding, you can use them for a reservation with checkin 60 days out. The 60 days are on a rolling basis.

Another way to use the points is if you have another reservation before the UY ends then you can replace the holding points with regular points - You just need to wait until you are 60 days or less out.

Even if they remove the holding, they’d also need a banking exception, assuming these are not already banked points.

I agree that calling can’t hurt, but in this case, it would be double pixie dust!

Then again, if they say they want to book across the UY, they may get pixie dust to bank some late!!

Had the same thing happen to me this past fall. As a DVCer, AP and us going to WDW once or twice a year, it’s hard to justify to miss something for school…but it’s also hard knowing we put points at risk. While not avoidable, we are starting to see it gets harder as kids get older. Best of luck either way!
