Holding Points

Do holding points have to be used just for the Disney Collection? Can they be used to reserve a conceirge collection room or something from the World Passport collection?

I have put some information below for you regarding holding points taken from another site. May I suggest that you call MS and/or your DVC Guide and explain to them why the sudden cancellation occurred. I think, given your extenuating cirucumstances, perhaps they could make an exception for you if you desired to book outside of these guidelines. The points can be used for a new DVC Resort reservation during your current UY as long as the reservation is booked 60 or fewer days before the new check-in date. In other words, if you plan to utilize these points for a DVC Resort vacation, you’re limited in your vacation planning; you cannot book a DVC Resort vacation more than two months in advance.
These vacation points can be used for an exchange through The Disney Collection, Concierge Collection, Adventurer Collection, and World Passport Collection if you’re making the reservation 60 or fewer days before the new arrival date, and (for The Disney Collection [excluding the Disneyland Resorts], Concierge Collection, and Adventurer Collection) more than 60 days before the end of your Use Year.
These points cannot be banked or borrowed.
These points will expire at the end of your Use Year if they’re not used

As Carol noted Holding Points are simply points returned to your account due to a cancellation within 30 days of arrival. They may be used to make a reservation within 60 days of arrival.

If a DVC member cancels a non-DVC reservation, the points will be returned as "Reservation Points" which means they can no longer be used for reservations at DVC resorts - only for reservations thru the Disney Collection, Concierge Collection or Adventure Collection. If cancelled within 30 days, these points can only be used to make a reservation within 60 days of arrival - still for a non-DVC reservation.
