I do not know why people on here get so rude sometimes.:( It just seems uncalled for. I was reading through a thread and getting gready to post, when from out of nowhere...rudeness! I wanted to reply in kind, but instead, thought I'd start my own thread and just hold my tongue.

Anyone else want to join?

Sorry, I can't do it. I try not to be rude though, or not to start the rudeness. :o Something is in the water this weekend, or up in the sky *full moon*. This too shall pass!

I hope you have a better night! Just bypass the rudeness and go on about what you were doing. :Pinkbounc DIS away! :wave2:

I don't know. . have you brushed your teeth lately?

;)

:hyper:

Seriously, there was a similar thread yesterday so you're not alone. . and while I think that it's understandable tempers flare and sarcasm is used to make a point when the subject being discussed is an emotional one, for anyone to post negative comments just to take cheap shots at somebody or intentionlly try and disrupt/derail a thread because they don't like the subject matter is unecesary and unfair.

I definitely held my tongue a few times last night and this afternoon. I have a few posters on ignore.... One has so much time on her hands to open tons of threads, who can think of some of the questions/polls she comes up with?? and I don't mean Laurie--your polls are GREAT!!! There was another poster, between Friday and yesterday had 16 (yes SIXTEEN ) threads started on the first 2 pages alone!!! My goodness..

And of course there is one poster who doesn't know how to use complete words and proper sentences. She abbreviates words like she's in the 7th grade.

Ok, now back to holding my tongue and watching MTV Awards!

Why would anyone point out what someone does on the CB if it's not hurting anyone? Are these people posting rude, obnoxious, hateful, biggoted posts, or are they just having fun, passing time like you and I? What difference does it make as long as people are just doing exactly what the guidelines say?

I started a similar thread yesterday. I have been shocked at the rude and mean comments I have read on the CB over the past few days. :(

Wow, I'd better find out what the popularly accepted quota of threads is before I post anything. Or which polls you like/dislike before I post my poll.

I think the people who are so easily annoyed by the number of one person's posts are worse off than the person who has so much time on her hands to post so often.

One thing I've been dying to say, but held my tongue, is this: what would you people do if she didn't post so often or she didn't post what you consider to be annoying? You'd have nothing to think about, you'd be bored, you'd have to get a life.

You should be thanking her.

(Sprinkling my tongue with sugar and putting it back in it's cage.)

Wow! How did my thread get here? :( I don't even know what any of you guys are talking about.

LOL
Now I'm feeling like I missed something. I REALLY want someone to fill me in so I can go back and read what everyone's talking about!

Amazing isn't it?

I have just been skipping over the threads I don't have any interest in but I think I might start using the ignore button. When I first came to the CB earlier this summer it seemed so friendly and fun. Most of the time it still is but there are times, like over the past few days when some people have just been blatantly rude and mean. :( So sad!!

I think it just reinforces my decision to write once and edit twice :)

Seriously, though, I'm not really new to the DIS but am new to the CB and have been surprised by some of the venom I see posted - often on what seemed like very innocent threads. While I don't have any poster on "ignore" (just learned yesterday that it is possible), I do often just skip posts that seem to have no point being in the thread other than to try to provoke a response. I think too often the problem is that the intended victim doesn't ignore the post but feels the need to respond in kind and it only gets worse from there.

Mama always said it takes 2 (or more) to start a fight but only one to end it - in this case that one could be a mod.

I think the point was that people saying they're tired of negative posts and how they had witheld comment. . . and then adding a negative comment or two about other posters is a bit. . uhhhh. . ironic. :scratchin

Also I'm guessing the original poster's intention in starting the thread was to discourage nagative comments aimed at other posters, not as a place for them. . .

Just speculation on my part. . and if I'm wrong I'll deny having said it. . ;)

:teeth:

On more than one occassion I have furiously typed a response only to delte it prior to hitting the post button. I do feel better having typed my thoughts but figure I have nothing to gain by berating others. Also figure it will only make me look bad. Now if I am personally attacked because someone misinterpurts my post.....

I was directing my unleashed tongue at those who get so bent out of shape over a specific DISer/some specific DISers who post what they think is too often or too ridiculous. They sort-of have a developing club dedicated to bashing this person/these people who frequent the DIS boards.

What I meant in my post is that the annoyees should thank the annoyers for giving them something to bash about, for making their lives more exciting.

The comments about the recent wave of negative posts just reminded me of the annoyee/annoyers issue going on.

So that's what it's about! LOL I hope I didn't annoy anyone! And thanks for letting me not hold my tongue just this once. LOL

EDITED to apologize to the OP. I re-read this thread and I saw it was meant to HOLD our tongues, not unleash them, as I've done. It was my mistake, I didn't mean to misdirect your thread.

OP here...Yes WillyJ, that was exactly my intention. Apology accepted, Aisling.

I'm confused, what are we supposed to do on this thread? :faint: :)

I don't know, but I was hoping someone would start naming names so I could look up and read their rude posts!!
