holding multiple reservations

please pardon my lack of knowledge....i'm new here....

I've been reading about people being able to hold multiple reservations for meals....are you able to do this? How? I just had to switch my dates from the first week in November (where I had almost all my reservations booked)to the last week of October and of course I am having difficulty getting the reservations I want, an early Ohana dinner for 5 in particular. Other dinners like Whispering Canyon and T rex aren't as important, but I am afraid to book them now for a certain night, thinking it will limit my 'Ohana searching ability....as in, it won't search/let me book on a day I already have another dinner booked around that time. Is this true? Thanks so much...first Disney trip since I was a kid, and a first with my husband and 3 children

You can always call in to make the reservation and they can still book it even if you have one with a similar time. Then you can make the decision which to keep and which to cancel.

This morning I was able to double book dinner on the same day (I immediately canceled one of the reservations afterwards), but in some cases I was forced to cancel one of the reservations before I could book the new one.

I have found the app is less likely to make you cancel a reservation than the website.

Reservations can be made within one hour of eachother, and you can search for other ressies even if you already have one for that day. If you booked, say, a Trex, then found an Ohana within that same time period, the system will ask if you want to keep the Trex or cancel it. When you select cancel, it will hold the Trex until the Ohana ressie is confirmed. Of course, this is when the system is actually working right. Sometimes the system will force you to cancel out the other ressie before making a new one, but this is a glitch. To hold multiple reservations at the same time, you need to create a separate account. People usually do this to split a party for hard to get ressies, such as BOG dinner.

ETA: if the system allows you to book two ressies less than an hour apart, this is a glitch. Definitely get rid of the one you don't want right away, as the system could cancel both.
