A funny thing happened to my vacation due to start last Sunday . . . I didn't make it due to circumstances beyond my control.

I called Travelocity and canceled my flight but I got a credit that I have to use by Dec.

I called DVC and canceled my reservation at AKL Villas and was told that my points (105) were to be placed in a holding account. They have to be used by the end of my UY which is Oct. But I now have a 60 day limit which means, I guess, that I could make reservations 60 days ahead. (I compared it to making reservations 11 months ahead for your home resort or 7 months ahead for any other DVC resort.) Am I correct??

Does it mean that I could make a reservation for, say, September?

Can someone help me out? I would appreciate it. Thanks.

It means reservations no more than 60 days from the current date. So the latest date you could do as of today would be May 4 (check out May 5), which (if I am counting correctly) is 60 days from today. Holding points can be a challenge because the selection of rooms 60 days ahead is sometimes quite limited. Good luck. I have been in your shoes and I hope that I don't often have to be there again.

Only for non-DVC locations. Also any banking you want to do has to be done before the 4 month mark.

DVC Resort reservations have not changed.

I believe for holding points, it's 60 days from check-in date rather than check-out.

So we just added on Yesterday and have a Dec use year and got 2007 points.So when do I have to bank the points if I cant rent them out or use them?

It is 4 months before the end of your use year, so December use year banking has to be completed by July 31.

Just to make sure I have this correct. If my use year is december and I have 225 points from Dec 07, I have until July 31st of 08 to bank them for use by Dec of 09; is this correct? If I bank the Dec 07 points, does this mean I can not use them until Dec 09 or can I use them anytime in 2009? I am starting to confuse myself

December use years are confusing.

Points received on December 1, 2007, have to be used by November 30, 2008, unless they are banked by July 31, 2008.

If they are banked, they must be used between December 1, 2008 and November 30, 2009.
