Here is my dilemma:

I made a reservation at OKW in a studio for the first weekend in October. We had to waitlist for the Sunday (10/3). I have a cash reservation just in case, so we can stay in the same room.

But, the more I think about it the more I don't want to have to pay the $270ish for one night. So I'm thinking about changing resorts for this one night.

We won't have much stuff with us as we are traveling light this trip, so switching resorts would not be a problem. Just 2 adults traveling.

I realize that this is the start of F&W festival, so that is why it is so crazy busy.

The only issue we have is that we are racing in the F&W half marathon the night before and may not get back to the room until around 3 am..then would have to be out of our room by 11 am to switch resorts...

So, What do you think?..How long should I hold out for the wait list before I make a ressie somewhere else? I don't have enough points to make a reservation elsewhere and keep my waitlist (if that is even possible)...Tell me your thoughts...

THANKS!!

Wow, I would not want to be changing resorts the morning after running a night time half-marathon (with party following). Have you checked to see if any of the DVC resorts have villas available for the day of race and the day after? I could see moving for both days.

I have to admit that I was surprised that Disney has added another event during F&W since MNSSHP is also going on as well, so I would think room availability is getting slim. Good Luck.

How long have you been on the wait list? It also doesn't hurt to call MS back occasionally to check yourself.

October is still pretty far away. Lots of time for a cancellation to come through and satisfy your wait list request.

If the $270 cash room is feeling too expensive, you could always switch your fallback plan to a Value resort reservation.

Let me clarify...there will be 4 in the room up until Sat...Hence, the OKW reservation with the 2 queen beds :) We are all running in the race doing the relay! Beginning Sunday night there will be only 2 of us...(all adult Mom's trip :)) so excited!!:goodvibes

Does checking with MS often make a difference when we are already waitlisted??

Changing rooms allows us to entertain the idea of adding the dining plan to our last night, but I really like my sleep ;)

We have waitlisted twice now, once between Christmas and New Year's at Saratoga and once this summer at AKL-Kidani. I didn't think the one night would come through at Kidani, but just last week it did! Our waitlist came through between Christmas and New Year as well. My advice is wait as long as you can, but have a back up night just in case. Good luck!:)

With the new automated system it's not supposed to. However, I just had an experience in April, when booking for August, where I had four nights booked and was on the waitlist for one day. I called MS to add my flights to my reservation for ME, and while we were talking the CM checked my reservation twice. The first time, I still had 3 nights booked and waitlist for one night. The second time he checked he found my extra night available and booked it immediately.

I'm not sure what exactly this means, but it leads me to believe that there is a lag between the time the inventory becomes available until it is matched against waitlist requests. We know the availability is "live" -- cancellations free up inventory immediately, but perhaps the waitlist matches are done as a batch job once or periodically during the day. If this is the case, it may be possible to snag a room night on the fly as I did.

Just to clarify the last concern. You can make a reservation elsewhere and if your waitlist comes thru they will cancel that one and use those points.

YAY:cool1: That is good news! I think I will do that then! Make a reservation elsewhere then keep my fingers crossed that my waitlist comes through

Thanks PrincessDuck for that helpful hin:thumbsup2

Running the 1/2 marathon too. We're doing a split stay. AKV first 3 nights and then BWV last 2. We could have switched over to BWV for last 3 nights, but decided we didn't want to have to be out in the morning. I'm assuming that there is no where you can get it both Sat and Sun? Best of luck to you and I hope your waitlist comes through!:goodvibes I don't know about you, but DH and I plan on laying at the pool all day Sunday and relaxing. We're going without kids for once!:cool1:

:dance3:Wait list came through!!:dance3:

Now if only I can get over these injuries that keep plaguing my training for the half marathon! I will be all set! My neighbor says you should not take up a new sport after you turn 40:scared1: Now I'm beginning to wonder if I should have heeded his advice

That is good news! I have a hard time with waitlisting as it drives me crazy. Once I can forget about it, it seems to happen and then there are the times where I can't stand it anymore and cancel it. Glad yours came through!
