First timer staying at HoJo's in May.

I've looked at a Map of the hotel and I'm considering requesting either building 3 or 4.

I ususally like a top floor, but those buildings are 2 story and they said no elevators.

Is the 1st floor noisy and does it have walk ways outside your windows? I don't want to have to keep the drapes closed when we're there.

Does hotel staff assist you to your room ?

I'm traveling with my almost 3 yr old GD (stroller, carseat and minimal luggage).

Would you recommend building 3 / 4 or have another suggestion ...... ?

Building 2 is our favorite, it's towards the back of the property and overlooks the pool and is nice and quiet.

The Pavillion buildings (3,4,5,6) are the 2 story buildings you are referring to. The second level rooms have skylights in them, so if you don't want sun coming in first thing - you probably don't want to be there! The rooms are interior corridors, but one side of the building faces the courtyard (where people will be walking) and the other side faces the pirate spray area (where people could be walking too!). We have stayed in these buildings before and they are fine, we just prefer the double queen rooms in building 2.
I have seen the staff helping with luggage before.

If planning on staying in a pavilion bldg (3, 4, 5,6) with a stroller I would deffinatly request a first floor room. I do not know the bldgs # off hand, but I would request one withe a court yard view vs water/pirate play area view (I would think LOTS of noise)
If a micorwave nor queen beds were not important to us, we definaty would have choosen a pavilion room. (we have only stayed in bldg 2)
And, no, in my experience, Hojo does not have a bell boy or other to help yo to your room. If you are lucky you will happen upon a luggage cart in the lobby area (or look at the elevators of bldg 1 or 2) and you will be able to get all your stuff to your room in one trip.

We were in building 6, room 109 (lower level) and I thought it was nice. It had two sinks and it was quite quiet in the morning and at night. I can't speak for mid-day because the weather was so nice and cool (and wet) that we didn't take mid-afternoon breaks!

We could even see the monorail track from our elevated porch/not-quite-balcony. ;)

Looking at the map, it looks like "courtyard facing" might be a better request for less noise (if they can honor that) than asking for a particular building. If you want more privacy, the second floor might be better for you--and the skylights on the second floor would let in natural light regardless of if you have to close the drapes.

We hauled our own bags up to the lobby so they could be checked in December (our room wasn't ready before our check-in time). They assisted us with taking them to our room when we got back in at 11:20 PM or so. So you might be able to get some help. (This was an off-season trip, though.)

Bldgs 4 & 6 are our favorites. We prefer the 2nd floor because people above you tend to be loud and rude. I don't like getting woken up by people running around over my head so we just ask for 2nd floor. BUT we don't have a baby in a stroller so that would probably make a difference. The light that the skylights let in are actually really great to wake up to so that doesn't bother us at all. I definitely prefer bldg 4 over 3, I could hear too much freeway noise in bldg 3 and that wasn't good for me and sleep. :)

We stayed in Building 2 and it was great. Very quiet and it overlooked the pool rather than having the concern of noise from the freeway or Castaway Cove area. In saying that, we have not stayed in the Pavillion rooms and it seems that everyone likes them so that is great.

Have a wonderful trip! :goodvibes

I forgot to mention that in my post -- we do request courtyard facing when we stay in those buildings to try and avoid noise in the pirates area.

Great suggestions !

I think I'll for sure go for a "courtyard facing" room and I'm going to try the 2nd floor. I do hate people tromping over my head.

The skylight sounds great as I don't like a dark room.
Sure don't want to sleep in when Disney is across the street.

Are buildings 4 & 6 closest to Harbor Blvd ?

Thanks for all your help.

Hojo staff helped us up to our room on 2/11 they offered at the desk.:thumbsup2
We usually just use the luggage cart, but my 80 year old mom was with us maybe they were sympathetic :goodvibes

Yes, bldgs 4 & 6 are the ones closest to Harbor. We ask for a courtyard facing room as well and have little to no issues with noise. :)

Where can I find the HoJo lay-out. I would like to see a map. After everything I am reading here I think I will try HoJo this April. I usually stay at the Park Vue or gamble with Priceline. On my last trip I got spoiled as we stayed at a newly remodeled DLH room. But I really can not afford the DHL this trip. :tink:
