I know I know ANOTHER HOJO thread. I have heard people say they cross at Manchester and walk on the other side of the street instead of going down to the xwalk. Is this faster? Do you kind of cut through the drop off area is that why it's supposed to be faster? Wouldn't it be pretty much the same?

thanks

FWIW :goodvibes

I think a fast-walker might find it to be quicker, because there are fewer people on the DL-side of Harbor Blvd. :cool1:

But distance-wise, I think the "HoJo Shortcut" (crossing Harbor Blvd at Manchester Ave, link) is only about 100 feet shorter than the "longer way" (walking south on Harbor Blvd. to the main crosswalk). ::yes::

The beta version of wikimapia allows you to easily measure distances with just a couple of clicks (or multiple clicks). I was playing around with the beta version, and just out of curiousity I measured the distances. I was surprised to see that the "HoJo Shortcut" was only 100 feet shorter.

If you're interested, here's the link to wikimapia (beta version).
Move the cursor to "Menu," click on "Distance Measure," and click away:

I think it's quicker because there are no crowds like there is on the other side.

Yep, actual distance wise it's not a huge difference. But no one was ever walking on that side so it was faster not to have to wait for slow people in front of you!;)

It is simpler when you don't have to walk with the crowds, plus you avoid the timeshare people. Not that they take up a lot of your time as you are walking by, but it was nice to avoid them altogether and not have to say no every day.
