Hojo walk

Will there be taxis waiting at the parks in the evening rush? I like that option and Ds8 has never been in a taxi. This is the first time we aren't going to Mickey and friends. We'll be at HoJo too.

For the fun of it, it's a nice option. But I've seen where the cabs are while waiting, and it's pretty much halfway to HoJo. The cabs then have to go out on Harbor the opposite way from HoJo, then you get to do a u-turn and get back to the hotel. I bet, depending on the crowds leaving and if the person was a good walker, a person *could* make it to the HJ parking lot before the cab did.

I agree with everyone else, but will add, don't think the ART is a good alternative. In the mornings they run you all over creation and back..so that you could spend anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes getting to the front gate. In the evenings it is slammed, and you may wait over half an hour just to get on...and then you have another 20 or 30 minutes or so because, again, it goes all over before getting to HoJo.

If you've got a long trip planned, splurge for a cab. We did the morning we went to Goofy's...it was only $5 or so. VERY much worth it if you're on day 5 or 6 of a vacation!
Regarding ART, Hojo's is on route 7. It is the last pick up on its route and goes directly to DIsneyland. For the ride back, it does go to 2 hotels before Hojos. It is about a 15 min ride. So, it is faster to walk, but it is nice to have to not walk. Even during Christmas/NYE weeks, we didn't have problems getting on the tram. They come every 20 mins. When it leaves the Disneyland Tram area, it goes to the Peacock, then Residence Inn, and then down Manchester to Hojos.

As far as cabs, Disney no longer allows them to wait in the front of the tram area, and you need to walk out to DTD by ESPN zone. It would be faster and easier to just walk to Hojos.

Hi everyone!!! Yup, is it about an 8-10 minute walk from our hotel to the main gates. I walk to Disneyland ALL the time and it does not seem that long. :) The ART bus is an option, it runs every 15-20 minutes and from our hotel it takes you directly to the Disneyland shuttle area; from Disneyland we are the last stop on the route so this may feel like it takes longer. We normally recommend our guest to try the walk first, if they find they do not like it then the ART is a great alternative.

Hope this helps!

I swear it seems longer to cross the street (waiting for the light) than the actual walk. :)

Ya, the cabs are no longer by Harbor, they are now over by the ESPN Zone in DTD. We took a cab a few nights from DL to the Peacock (when the cabs were on Harbor) and we only paid $5 for most trips, there was one night that the cab driver was called over by someone else to drive us and the person who called him over told him we were going to LA, well the driver was on the phone the whole time so even tho we told him we were going to the PS and not to LA he started to head the wrong way and then he tried to charge us more because he wasn't paying attention to us (he was on his bluetooth the whole drive), needless to say he didn't get tipped very much. Anyway, when we walked up we just said $5 for a drive to the PS, we had drivers ready to take us. One time we did the meter and it was just under $5 so we knew it was a fair offer and yes, we did tip as well. :)

We are staying hojo starting Sat! :goodvibes
We may not enjoy walking in the rain.... But we ARE going to DL

If you want a real-world test of the walk I suggest you map it out. Use a site like MapMyWalk. Map the route from HoJo to Disneyland. Then take that distance and map a same-length route on the streets by your house. 10 minutes might not seem far on paper, but when mapped to an area near home it might be longer than you think. For example, if it equals the walk to the park - and you find that walk difficult, you'll know in advance. Or, you'll find it's no problem at all :).

If you're not set on HoJo, you might consider Candy Cane Inn. The distance is about the same, but they have a private shuttle (free, but tip the driver) that runs every half hour. It might be the back-up plan you need.
