Hi everyone,
We are planning on coming from Australia for a disneyland visit mid november. In 2004 we stayed at the HoJo and found it fantastic. Last yr (Oct 08) we came for 3 days and stayed at the DL hotel, which was also wonderful. This trip was sort of a quick decision (we are still not completely sure) as we were going to wait a few years before we came again......but the disney bug has bitten bad again!!! So, we want to stay somewhere a little cheaper and were thinking the HoJo again. How has it changed since 04? Which rooms are the best etc? Any other recommendations of places better than the HoJo but similar price and as close? Any help would be gratefully received! :goodvibes

They recently renovated so the Hojo is a good choice. I LOVE the Disney-view rooms. Nice, comfy beds and a good view. If you're high enough you can see really well into the park. Reasonably sized with a fridge and microwave. Everything you need when you're going to spend most of your time at Disney!

Oh, and you can buy the Entertainment book online if the Entertainment rate is offered during your stay.

Stay in BLDG 2 - away from the freeway noise. Pay the extra $$ for a premium room (has the microwave in addition to the fridge and nice bedding and usually a better view).

For the price, I don't think you can do any better than the HoJo and still be that close to DL. And they've done some nice things since you were there last (new bedding and a cool "water park" area for the kiddies).

Hey all, I am going there in May as well with my family. I am presently looking for some hotels. Ideally around $60 to $80 US per night. Sounds like there are deals out there, just need to find one. In addition, I figure I dont want to stay next to disneyland for 10 days, when i will only be there 3-4 days. Can anyone recommend a good hotel for a good deal along the coast, nearby? what is figured to be a "good deal" for a hotel near DL

thanks.

Loved everything about it. Great customer service, nice grounds, comfy beds, very clean. We are only doing Park Vue next week because HOJOS was booked. We are staying there again in December.

No suggestions...just a comment...

I am so thankful that getting a Disney fix doesn't require me to shlep my family half way around the world! You all deserve a big old pat on the back for being such dedicated Disney fans!

I hope you find the perfect hotel. We've only done HoJo's, so I don't have anything to compare it to.

You might search for the beach community tourism bureau websites and request their info. I know the one for Laguna lists lots of little boutique hotels/motels, along with larger ones. I'm sure none of them are under $80 a night, but you'd at least know what's out there if you decide you don't want to spend the whole time at motel chains!

Good luck with your planning!

We stayed in Building one in October and loved it. We asked for a top (7th floor room with a Disney view, and got the Ent rate for our whole stay (it's $79 a night now for the Premium Disney View).

The freeway noise is loud outside the room but inside it seemed very quiet to us. Our room was 1713, and the view was great, not too blocked by the trees. We had a straight shot view of the Matterhorn and Space Mountain. If you'd like to see pictures, check my trip report in my signature below, page 5-- there's a video taken from the balcony.

DD13 and I used the hot tub and she even got me to play in the Castaway Cove water play area, and jump under the huge dumping bucket of water! It was so fun!
