HoJo pool view vs highway side

We have booked the HoJo across street from DL. It seems to get good reviews. Here's my current dilemma. It is $10 more/night from a pool view vs. highway side. I have read reports of too much noise by the highway. Is it worth it to pay the difference just for a different location?

I would def go with the pool view. We've stayed in building 2, which is the pool view rooms, several times and they are so quiet and peaceful. My parents once got a room facing the highway, and it was quite loud in their room.
If I were you, I'd switch.

I was wondering the same thing. We have a package through Alaska Airlines, and I was thinking about upgrading from a standard room to possibly a pool room. Would it still be $10/night to upgrade?

We stayed in bldg 2 last year and it was great. That was when all the construction was going on with the garden pool but it was still super quiet. At that time those rooms were $59. In December we booked a courtyard room for $59.

I would pay the $10 a night for building 2. We stayed there in December and it was very quiet! We stayed on the the 3rd floor and they were in process of upgrading the mattresses to the plush pillow top. I'm sure they are done with the building now...hmm...more comfy beds and quiet. $10 a night is totally worth it. (imho)

For the same price as the freeway side rooms, you can get a standard room in the pavilion buidings, in the courtyard areas. HOwever these rooms have oversized doubles (vs queen), no micorwave, and do not have the upgraded bedding.

:(

They don't have it available when I will be there.
:(

It is available on the 29th, 30th, and 31st - but not on the 28th.

She (Jennifer) said to call about a week before we are due to arrive to see if that has changed. (Should I reserve the days that are available now and just switch rooms?? And hope that one opens up on the 28th??)

Right now I am leaning towards just hoping they all open up. Otherwise, I am sure building 1 will be fine.

You really have to decide what is best for you. The freeway facing rooms would not be a problem to me at all and I could happily find some way to spend the money saved. I live very close to the freeway (Interstate 5) and a quarter of a mile from an ambulance company. Noise does not bother me as I barely notice it.

But I have a sister that lives “in the middle of nowhere” where the silence is deafening. If the local moose passes gas within a mile it wakes her up. So, we will be staying in building 2 with earplugs next to her bed. :)

Have a great trip.

LOL.

When you put it in that perspective, I doubt the noise would bother me either.

I live 3 houses away from a Weyerhaeuser mill.

Hello Neighbor to the South,

So you are near Grays Harbor? I love Aberdeen. I have a great childhood memory of getting our first family cat from there 43 years ago. It looks a little different today. :goodvibes

Anyways.. you should be fine in your room. I would imagine you barely even notice the mill noise anymore.

Hey it looks like you will be at HoJo's when we are going to be there. We are from Montesano :) We have a room in Building 1 but facing Disneyland. I hope the freeway noise isn't too bad. Monte is a quiet town and too much freeway noise may be irritating. Anyone have first hand experience with the Disney facing rooms and freeway noise?

I have stayed in all the different types of rooms EXCEPT the pavillion bldgs. We only stayed in a freeway facing room in Bldg 1 for one night when we added a night to our trip at the last minute. We switched rooms for the last night as we were in a disney facing room for the majority of the visit. The noise did not bother me, but then again I live in the Bay Area and am used to noise. Personally I also think that because Int 5 is SO busy the noise really is more like a constant hum (maybe loud hum to some). Now if dogs were barking outside the window - that would be a different story!:rotfl: That really annoys me for some reason!:)
Building 2 pool view rooms are also nice and quiet. Just be sure to get the updated beds. They are so very very comfy!:thumbsup2
