Hojo Anaheim or the Anaheim Hotel?

The Anaheim resort is closer and less expensive.

The resort I like most is courtyard Marriott theme park entrance but also most expensive & I don't like that the "better"rates are nonrefundable. I only like booking with flexible cancellation.

The Anaheim resort seems better for location & price.

Hojo has cuter rooms with bunk beds. Not sure we'd use the waterpark.

Kinda surprised you have not had any responses to the hotel question yet. They will be coming.

So you get me for now.

I have stayed at HOJO's and really enjoyed the rooms. The walk to and from the park, not so much especially after a long day. We have since stayed at the BWPPI on multiple occasions, good prices, rooms are clean and comfortable but are a little "tired, a decent breakfast is included and the location is the best. We are going to stay at the BWAPI on our next trip. It was cheaper than BWPPI.

You will hear positive reviews on the Tropicana, Candy Cane, Camelot and Park Vue. All within in easy walking distance, affordable, clean and comfortable.

All of the motels/hotels I have listed are great with little ones. You can easily walk back to your room for midday naps and then back to the parks in the evening

Hojo! It’s a hotel. Not a motel. Never had a bad stay there. Great customer service.

When we stayed at Anaheim hotel, we could hear everything through the walls. We didn’t get much sleep.

I like Desert Inn and Suites and BWPPI/BWAI. Super close, extra space, basic breakfast (I don't really care about that but it's nice with kids). Hojo is too far, though I used to stay there a long time ago when they had really cheap rates. I mean, the walk is more palatable when you're paying $40/night, ha ha. My kids loved the water park area but it's no fun carrying a kid halfway back to the hotel at the end of the night. We also liked to take a break during the day and it does add a lot of extra steps to your day.

ETA there are plenty of good motels/basic hotels in that area but I prefer to be right near the crosswalk and I prefer the extra amount of room in a suite-style place.

Im definitely leaning towards Anaheim hotel for the $$ savings and being closer and right across the street.

These comments definitely helped me know that I need to be across the street as close as possible as priority #1.
Price & cleanliness important too.

I'm going to look up the other ones you wrote here and check pricing.

Park vu had too many dirty floor, and plumbing reviews that made me lose interest.

The savings from canceling hojo and getting the Anaheim hotel insteadwould be enough to cover getting park hopper and 2 days of genie and 2 snacks.

The difference in distance between the HoJo and the Anaheim front where you enter and exit the parks is about .1 miles. And that distance can be made up by cutting through the Courtyard and Mimi’s parking lot.

We stayed at the HOJO by the Santa Ana Freeway. I wouldn't stay there again. We were in older rooms that didn't feel all that clean. Plus we were by the Freeway, which we could hear all night long. The walk wasn't too bad. Nice there is a Panera Bread or McDs along the way. Try the Park Vue. it's right across the street. The rooms are dated, but clean. Plus it was cheaper than HOJO.

I prefer the hotel Hojo in buildings 1 and 2 over the motel choices that we have tried on Harbor. The walk though less pleasant is the same distance as from the Disneyland Hotel, and that's where things just get too expensive for me.

You don’t see many glowing reviews on the Anaheim hotel on this board. I walked past it last Saturday with my sis and I was not impressed, especially with the room blocks (vs the main building.) Definitely a motel.

Have stayed at Park Vue 4 times, most recently in the spring, and the HoJo once. The walk was too far for my kids at the end of the day. Never had an issue with park Vue, it’s basic but clean and staff is great. Can’t beat the walk across the street at night!

My sister is a big fan of the Tropicana which is just as close, but has more fun theming and some rooms with balconies.

I'm here to be your glowing review for The Anaheim Hotel :P

We loved it. We stayed at Paradise Pier our first trip to DL in October '23 and my best friend and I did a girls trip the first week of June this year. I've already booked The Anaheim Hotel again for October '24. The price and location cannot be beat. My friend and I like to spend all the time we can in the parks so we basically need a good place to sleep. If you're looking for fancy, The Anaheim Hotel is not it but if you're looking for a great price, a short walk, and clean...I recommend it for sure. The front desk people were great. We got there around 12:30pm (flew in to LAX from Charlotte, NC) and they already had a room ready for us even though check-in was at 3. It is motel style but the rooms open into partially covered halls so we were comfortable with that. We were on the first floor and had a huge fenced in, private patio with a table and chairs and lounge chairs. The rooms are older but have cosmetic upgrades. The pool is huge and the hot tub was great during our afternoon "nap" break. The lawn has oversized games and its all great cute mid-century modern decor. I think the best part for us was the security. We are two early 30s females walking alone and while there are usually a ton of people walking Harbor Blvd, it was nice the hotel had security standing in the parking lot and keeping an eye out. Everyone was so friendly too! The walk was quick and I like that it's off the main road under tree coverage.

Sorry for the wall of text but we just really enjoyed our stay! Let me know if you have any questions! I've heard good things about the Hojo and we considered it but the longer walk (even just a few minutes) and us not needing the big splash pad area, we couldn't justify the price difference for a little cuter decor.

Thank you!! I loved and needed this! I was having so many second thoughts.

The Anaheim hotel is so close and $220+ less expensive than every other hotel that is on harbor & super close.

It really is the best priced across the street. I will have to contribute my review when I get back. 😋

I had a hojo booked but canceled it, I couldn't justify the extra $222 total on a room total and it being a further walk for just a place to sleep and shower.

Location , price , & cleanliness were the priorities.

That's nice to hear that they have security around!

Those were all our priorities too. I am always tempted by a cute room but our price difference was about $300 between the two and that goes a long way towards churros and ears 😂 I forgot to mention too that the hotel gift shop was pretty well stocked and honestly reasonably priced. I forgot toothpaste and my friend forgot a hairbrush and it cost about $5 for me to run down there and buy us both. We didn’t get a chance to eat at the attached Pizza Press but I’ve heard great reviews.

Do you remember if your room was a standard double queen?

I think those are the ones with the patio or balcony.

They also have a larger 1 king room that doesn't have a patio or balcony

We were at the Anaheim Hotel week before last. We've stayed there twice and at the Best Western twice over the past four years. Plainly, the Anaheim has everyone beat on price. The BW is a little more modern, but I can't say it's worth the 50% price increase. One thing we had happen with the latest stay at the Anaheim is their WiFi is buggy as can be. I wound up having to use my phone's mobile hotspot for my laptop.

Yes! The Anaheim hotel price savings is great! Easily saved us $222+ on a 3 night trip compared to everything else within walking distance

Would you recommend one room type over another?

It seems like there's a bigger room that didn't have the balcony/ patio.

We're probably not planning to spend much time in the room or at the hotel. Just sleep and get ready for Disneyland.

Our room had two queens, and was plenty big enough for the two of us. Like you, we sleep there at night or take PM naps, but otherwise, we're in the parks. We can't see spending double for a bed and shower, assuming roughly equal cleanliness and size. When we go back, we probably will stay there again, if price differentials stay the same.

Thanks!
Do you remember if they had a decent coffee machine ? We'd use it for hot water for oatmeal .

I hope it doesn't disappoint !

Mr. Coffee, IIRC. Their breakfast selection included oatmeal and other cereals. Boiled eggs, croissants, sweet rolls, toast, juice, milk, coffee.

It was a standard room. Two queens I believe.

You also responded to me on another thread asking about a coffee pot so I’ll just answer here 😊 I honestly can’t remember. I want to say yes but don’t fully count on that. I think it was on the desk!
