We have stayed at DLH twice and loved it, but for $$$ reasons I am looking at one of the above for four days late October. Me and dd who is 6. She loves the pool at DLH and the theming, so I am concerned she might be disappointed off site, but which is best. HOJO looks nice but Fairfield is closer....any advice would be great. :wizard:

Fairfield Inn is a tad closer, its right next door to the HoJo with some restaurants in between them. You could go to tripadvisor and check out reviews. I can tell you that the Fairfield Inn's pool area is not as nice from what I could see of it compared to the HoJo's. The HoJo has two pools, one that has a kiddie pool and spray jets your daughter might enjoy. The Fairfield is more of a highrise building and is just one building. The HoJo is a group of buildings some being only two stories tall, with lots of pretty grounds surrounding those buildings. The Fairfield has exterior corridors, the HoJo's corridors are somewhat enclosed in that they don't open right up but the hallways aren't secured by a door (does that make sense, kind of hard to explain). I haven't stayed at the Fairfield but have stayed at both properties next door to it and it looks nice from the outside. To me the main differences would be that the HoJo has some really nice grounds and two pool areas but the Fairfield Inn is slightly closer (maybe two minutes walking).

I'm not sure when you're going, or if you are able to go at any time late October, but I just wanted to let you know that on Expedia the Disneyland Hotel has availability checking in on Oct 23 and out on Oct 27, and with the "4th night free" special, it comes to $157.50 per night for a standard room. :sunny:

As far as the HOJO or Fairfield goes, I agree with everything Amy&Dan said. :)

Thanks for the advice, I am looking at arrive the 20th and leaving the 24. For work and school reasons we have to be back by the 25th

If you have an "Entertainment" discount card, check out the Holiday Inn on Walnut.

As far as on-property hotels, there are sometimes great discounts for annual pass members. Some friends recently went to Disneyland and found an $89 per night rate at the Paradise Pier (I think). It turned out that it was only $30 more for one of them to buy a season pass than to buy the regular tickets, so the husband did that and locked in the hotel rate for 5 nights. They bought their tickets on the day they arrived at Disneyland , then checked into the hotel later that day with his season pass in hand!

The rooms are bigger at HoJo and the pools are much nicer. Truly the walk isn't that much farther, although you may be disagreeing with me after a long day at the parks. Neither has a free breakfast, although I think Fairfield sometimes offers a deal at MacDonald's.

If you have an entertainment card, call HoJo directly and ask about their entertainment discount. I've gotten rooms for $49, the last time being just last month, in the middle of the summer with the 50th still in full swing. Even if you don't have an entertainment card, it may be worth it to pick up a book usually around $25, check out entertainment.com.

My preference would be the Howard Johnson, though the Fairfield is a nice place to stay.

We like the HoJo's we always try and get a 1st floor room that has a patio right there at the pool. We can sit on our patio and still see the kids swim. It is an easy walk to Main Gate

If you go to HOJO, check out their lobby near the gift shop. They have one of those stations with brochures to various SoCal parks and tourist attractions. In there, I found one for McD's. 10% off. May not seem like much, but every penny helps! It was only good at the Harbor location.
