HoJo coffee pot-Disney coffee-

How many filters do they give you at HoJo for the coffee pot? Do they charge for extra's and if so what is the pot size and are the filters cone or regular ones?

Also is the coffee as Disneyland "good" coffee or that nasty stuff like at DisneyWorld?

I actually think that hojo just changed over to those "k-cups" type, single serving in a "pod", coffeemakers...

Disney coffee is Nescafe and isn't the most fabulous stuff you've ever had. however, according to the Storyteller's Cafe server, they have a special blend of it at that restaurant...she told me that b/c I mentioned how much better it was than the other coffee places at the resort/parks.

In the parks, I'm generally an iced latte drinker, and they are fairly good. Strangely, they don't put *enough* ice in them...most places go crazy with the ice so it's nice to have the opposite, but still, I'd like more ice. And Iv'e finally discovered that their normal milk for lattes tastes like heavy cream, it's so dense...I feel gross after drinking one. So I finally had them use 1%, and my lattes (warm and cold) were MUCH better.

There's a Starbucks, if you like that stuff, up the road from HoJo, though I'm not sure how far up (hubby went for us). If you have a car, you might check it out.

At Compass Books in DTD, they tell me they serve Koffee Klatch coffee.

And Haagen Dasz in DTD serves Peets espresso drinks (not sure about drip coffee)...mmmmmm.

All I can say is I'm packing my french press and grinder. But of course by saying that I'm admiting I'm a bit of a coffee snob. My husband is more open-minded about what he drinks and is alright with the park coffee.

I wonder when that Starbucks is going to open on Main Street?

The Blue Ribbon Bakery on Main Street serves very good coffee, lattes and awesome mochas too. I'm a coffee snob too.... and some of the coffee you get in the park is blood curdling.... the keurig coffee pods they have in Hojo's now are apparently extremely good according to several other coffee snobs.... We shall see. A french press and grinder are such a good idea! I get my coffee from a local coffee roaster...Saltspring Island coffee. it is truly amazing coffee! Have you tried the new coffee thingys from Starbucks? Via...I was thinking of trying them and if they are good, having them there....then you only need to pack a kettle (no coffee pot at Hojo's, no way to boil water...bring a kettle!)

The Kuerig coffee pods: you can buy a refillable pod for it ($10?) and fill it with your own coffee.

I've had coffee there in the morning. It's okay. We're staying at the Fairfield Inn and they have a coffee maker which I was going to rely upon for my hot water but I like your idea of bringing a kettle! Found a Bodum Mini Ibis Electric Water Kettle on Amazon for $29.95! Now I'll have hot water at the temp I need!

This is a sickness, right?

Ah well. I love fresh, french press coffee. I'll probably cave and have some coffee mid-day in the parks but 1st thing a.m. is NOT the time for substitutions!

I believe I read you can run water through the Kurig with out the pod for hot water, just like you would a normal coffee maker

The Starbucks Via is decent, but it's not quite the same as regular coffee. Better than Folgers for sure but if you're used to locally roasted fresh beans it'll be quite a difference! The cool thing though is if you like iced coffee or whatever, you can mix it with cold or room temp water - it doesn't need to be boiling.

I want to try Keurig coffee. I've heard good things, but never had a cup.

hehe.... I can't even imagine drinking folgers or anything like that any more. During the heart of the economic crisis, hubby was off work for what ended up to be 6 and a half months I tried...seriously I tried to buy cheaper coffee...But I could not drink the stuff. I decided I would just cut down the amount I was drinking...better to have only 2 cups a day of really good coffee than a pot of
and yes kittyskyfish you are right...it is all right not as good as what I have at home, but better than anywhere else in the park.... which I guess is not saying much!! lol.... when you have a holiday latte or mocha it covers up the taste a bit at least....

I saw on the WDW portion of the boards that they do a coffee swap. They leave a coffee pot, coffee, filters etc at the front desk for the next assigned DISer. Has anyone ever thought to start this up? Perhaps the morning coffee worries could go away?

This is what I am going to do. Buy a pack of those single serve instant Starbucks tubes and make my own with the coffee pot hot water or microwave hot water. I hate hotel coffee and I always bring my own.

I was just at Hojo's for 3 days. I am pretty picky about coffee and am fortunate to live in Portland surrounded by great coffee shops and roasters. I do not like the Disney coffee at all, I have had it at many locations. IMHO the Kuerig pods were pretty good. They provide Columbian for free in the room but have other varieties, including a dark espresso roast, for sale in the little store. I used 2 espresso pods (4 oz each time) to make one fairly good, strong cup of coffee. They also sell creamer and provide travel cups with lids. I was very happy with it.

What a great idea! I was actually asking about the keurig cups... I know you can buy boxes of them at some grocery stores. I was thinking of the vons on Chapman, do you think the one on Lincoln is closer?
