It's been 15 years since we stayed in building #1 at Hojo. The freeway noise was so loud back then, we had to go buy earplugs! Just curious if it's still that bad. Also wondering if those rooms are larger in building #2 (I assume that's why they cost more than building 1). thanks!

We've only stayed in building 1, freeway side so I can't comment on room sizes from other buildings but we have not had an issue with highway noise. They glassed in what used to be a balcony so there are 2 glass panes with several feet of air in between the panes. Do you recall if they had the 2 panes of glass last time you stayed there?

Our first trip we were in a 1 queen + 1 bunk room which seemed like a normal size motel room but was fine for the 3 of us. Our last trip and next 2 will be in the 2 room kids suite which is wonderful. We love the extra room w/ bunk bed that DD5 sleeps in plus the 2nd bathroom comes in handy.

we stayed freeway side in building one and never heard the freeway.

Thanks. I don't remember two panes of glass, but it was 15 years ago. Sounds like it has been improved since then.

Ok- nix what I said. Just checked in- got a gorgeous ro on the top floor with high ceilings and skylights- but the balcony is not glassed in and there is a lot of noise- so if you want quiet be sure to request a room where the balcony is glassed in- preciously we always had rooms on the 3rd floor.

If you want quiet, go for Bldg 2. Living in the deathly quiet country has made me pretty sensitive to noise and Bldg 2 is really quite good. Occasionally I can still hear large trucks drive by, but other than that it's pretty quiet. BTW, that's with the sliding glass door closed. It's noisy when open.

We stayed in Building 1 on the park side on the 7th floor, but it was on the corner that's closest to the 5. You could hear the freeway pretty well from there. However, it did create some "white" noise to keep the kids asleep when the people in the room next to us had a baby go into a 30 minute screaming fit 2 nights in a row.

Thanks for the info everyone. We have stayed in building two the last two trips. I was just wondering if they had "fixed" building 1. Sounds like they have fixed some of them.

We stayed in a similar location, and we all commented on the noise. By the second or third night, we were too exhausted to care, but there was definitely freeway noise.
