I have already made my reservations at HOJO using the ENT rate (thank you disboard!:thanks: ) but now I am having reservations ;) about the building I reserved. My DH and I will have DD7, DD5, and DS2 with us and plan on walking to and from the park each day including once a day for a nap/lunch on long days. During the day we will need a somewhat quiet room for naps. How much difference does it make if we say in Bld #1 vs Bld #2(pool view) for walking distance and noise level.

I've stayed in both. Walking distance: Bldg. 2 is like an extra 50 steps, if that. I like to find different shortcuts through the property and stairwels. ;)
I have found Bldg. 2 to be quieter in general, as well.

my Bldg #1 rooms were quiet and I had two different locations, one on the 7th floor nearer the freeway, second room was on the 4th floor almost next to the elevator. We sleep with a fan on at home so I did the same there and it was fine.

Oh, I forgot to mention, if you are wanting to switch to Bldg. 1, just make sure you request a room not on the top floor (they have skylights and make it difficult to nap if you need a dark room), and away from the freeway. Daisy is right though, there are fan options on the thermostat and the white noise drowns out the freeway noise quite well.

We've stayed in both. We prefer bldg 1. We were on the 3rd floor in bldg 1 facing the Matterhorn, it was quiet (until someone let their kids run screaming up and down the hall at o'dark thirty in the morning) and we had a great view of the fireworks. We felt bldg 1 was slightly closer, but maybe it was just our room. We rebooked and requested the same room, hopefully we will get it. :)

bldg 2 was not loud though, we were on the 3rd floor iirc. We had a pool view with a balcony. It was nice, felt like a slightly longer walk but we would stay there again.

We just arrived home on Tuesday night from our 1st stay at the Hojo's. We were in building 2 4th floor and it was a lovely room and very quiet. Since we have never stayed in bldg 1 I can't compare the two but I would say that bldg 1 would be a little closer of a walk. The walk does get a little long, especially at the end of the day when everyone's feet are tired! :) We have rooms reserved for late Aug and early Dec in bldg 1 and are looking forward to going back!

Nap? :rotfl2: I actually requested a room on the top floor. ;)

Can you give us an update on the Garden Pool renovations? We'll be there in 56 days and are staying in Building 2 for the first time. :yay:

Well I am certainly not an expert on pool renovations but it did not look close to being done yet. Not exactly sure when it is suppose to open. That being said, we were NEVER bothered by any construction noise or anything. (Our room looked right out into the pool area.) I never even say anybody working on it now that I think about it.
Our room was very nice and my dh and I agree that it is the nicest place we have stayed at on Harbour. (however the walk can get a little long with kids - even with the shortcut :headache: )
Maybe somebody else has more info on the renovations timeline?? :)

Thanks so much for the info on the Garden Pool. I think the pool is supposed to be completed by the beginning of May but I know that type of thing is highly subject to change.

We will be there with 3 munchkins:dance3: 7,5,& 2 and I am a bit worried about the walk. We have a double jogging stroller we will be using but wondering if it is worth it to stay there or if it it wold be better to pay more and be right across the street. Does it just seem long on the way home or on the way in also? I am thinking with the savings in the room we could afford a cab ride home at night. :scratchin

Everytime I've been tempted to take a cab back, I realize once I'm at the cab pick-up area, I'm basically half-way back to the hotel anyway. It's a 7 minute walk, just under a half mile. You will no doubt be using that double stroller for the little ones.

If you went with Desert Inn or BWPPI, you'd be saving yourself about 4-5 minutes of walking. Only you can decide if that's worth changing hotels.

BTW, have you checked the new HoJo pool plans thread? That might also convince you to stay put.
