Professor Black: She stopped very suddenly. "Like a brother," she said quietly. "And, well, Toby, I-with everything that's been going on, I just don't have time for that," she explained softly. "There's more to it than you think." It was true. He didn't know how she'd grown up, not the death eaters, not her mother's death, nor how nearly every person she had been close to had been ripped away from her, Evan being the one exception. That still amazed her. Melanie knew she couldn't live without her best friend, brother, or whichever adjective that would be used to describe their relationship. They were closer than close.
