Yes! Both are different story lines, try to go from Diagon Alley to Hogsmead first to go along with the actual HP storyline! I did both HP lands in the morning and spend the rest of the day at Universal, did IoA next day

Also, pay attention to both the window and the doorways throughout the ride. As some things are if you blink, you'll miss it kind of moments. Eventually you might even have a preference to one over the other. Like me for example, with Hogsmeade to Diagon Alley I prefer the doorway action, but to Diagon Alley to Hogsmeade I prefer the window action.

wow I am so excited about the train!!!!!! I will have to have my son watch one part and me the other and we can point out anything so we don't miss it! I think I want to do the whole Harry Potter experience for him with starting with Diagon Alley and getting his wand and stuff then taking the train to Hogsmeade and then to Hogwarts.

I thought it was only a couple of minutes, but I looked it up and it's 4 minutes according to Wiki.
