Anyone else watch Hogan Knows Best on VH1? I like the show, but I think Hulk and his wife are way too strict on their daughter Brooke. They treat her like she's twelve! I hope she is successful in her singing career, although, I think she's going to need to lose some weight before she becomes a true celebrity. Don't get me wrong, I think she's a beautiful girl. But she's a little big for Hollywood standards.

if you notice shes also incredibly tall. So I'm sure she's perfectly proportioned for her height. Not to be rude, but I think you saying in order for her to be successful she needs to loose weight is incredibly wrong.

Don't watch the show, but I was listening to Howard Stern when he interviewed the Hogan family and Brooke performed her new single. Hulk said that he and his wife have invested upwards of $3,000,000.00 in Brooke's singing career...they're simply protecting their investment.

I agree with you 100%. :thumbsup2

Sorry - but those are Hollywood standards, not mine. Face it, thin is in.People don't like it, but it's true. Yes, she is tall, but she's thick. I saw her on Tyra a few weeks ago and she eluded to the same thing. She said it's difficult for her because she is Italian and likes to eat.

Are you sure you aren't catching reruns? She was on a talk show the other week with her parents and brother and I thought that she had really thinned out. In the older episodes she was bigger.

I do NOT care for the show at all! I saw the episode (recently) (could have been a repeat) when they adopted or bought a MONKEY....come on now, folks...A MONKEY living in the house....that is absolutely BANNED in the state of MA where I live. :sad2:

And as far as Brooke's voice....hmmm....I am going to guess (just guess) if her voice was going to be a major hit and have major record sales...the Hogan's would not have had to put up alllll that money that they have so far. If her voice was :thumbsup2 she would have been picked up easily by a recording studio and she would be off making records and touring 24/7.

Look at the American Idol winners....they did not put up any money...they SANG...won the contest...and are now making LOADS OF MONEY... as well as the runner up's such as Clay Aiken......and most of the winners did not have any money to begin with and NOW their careers are going :thumbsup2

There have been many successful entertainers who have less-than-stellar voices. I agree, I don't feel like she is a great singer, but then again there are few truly great voices. Her parents want to support her career choice. If I had the money and my child wanted to pursue a singing career, I might do the same.

As for AI contestants, it seems that only Clay, Carrie and Kelly have really done well (and they are not exactly superstars). We will see about Taylor.

I don't only think they are way to strict but the way he treats her is sort of "creepy"....in one episode they were mad at the son because the daughter was "missing" and he was supposed to be watching her....he is younger than her yet he was supposed to be watching her?? Then she said something to the son about why he should be babysitting her and he replied because I have a ***** and you don't....

I think they are doing a great job to show that clebs don't just get a free pass like the Hiltons and others out there getting trashed at the age of 16 and younger.

Props to Hulk for being strict and teaching Family is important at the age they are at now.

As far as Brook Her voice is OK and she will have a draw and thats all thats needed to sell records and get into the movies.

I am also glad that Hulk is strict with her. I also think she sings MUCH better than Britney Spears and is being brought up much better than Britney also. I also like the way the guy from KISS is bringing up his kids. It is refreshing to see that famous people actually care about their children and are doing everything they can to ensure thay are not doing as they please and getting high /drunk at 16 or younger.

Just wanted to point out that Kelly won two Grammy's this year - the highest award in music. If that's not superstardom, I don't know what is. :goodvibes Fantasia was nominated for a Grammy - quite an honor for a first album. And don't forget, Carrie won the highest award in country music with her first album as well. All three are superstars in my book! :teeth:

Kind of what I was trying to point out in the OP. Wasn't that the same episode where he didn't trust her and a friend at the weekend house by themselves, so he went and spied on them? I understand he's trying to prove all celebrity kids aren't out of control, but c'mon. It's obvious she's a sweet girl, but he treats her like she can't be trusted.

I think the show seems scripted. I can hear the producers now: "I know. We'll let Brooke go on a date, but Hulk - we want you to put at GPS system in the truck. Hey, I know - how about you guys get in an argument with the neighbors. Even better - how about getting a monkey. Yeah, that's it...a monkey!"

I have a friend who has met Brooke. He said that she is absolutely stunning. He said the camera doesn't do her justice.

Just wanted to point out that there have been Grammy winners who did not have continued success. My idea of a superstar is different. There have been some superstars that have never won a Grammy.

Yes, and they are really horrible actors. The family is only doing this show in the attempt to launch Brooke. I think they are really blinded by parental pride.

Then, there's Kelly Pickler. I saw her on the VIEW this week and it was painful to watch and listen to. She was much better at times on AI but a star she is NOT.

I think the Hogan girl is pretty ho-hum but I would NEVER have picked Brittany Spears or Jessica Simpson to be stars either. Not in a million years. Matter of fact, I STILL don't get it with either of them. Based on that, Brooke Hogan will probably be as popular as Santa Claus by next year. :confused3

I understand what your are saying and would like to add my two cents. I have nothing better to do right now, so why not? What got Britanny in the game was "Hit Me Baby One More Time" and the video. She sold sex right from the beginning and it put her on the map. It's hilarious how now that she has had two babies with KFed some consider her trashy.

As far as Jessica, she would still be a D list star if not for "Newlyweds". She was the perfect stereotype of blonde = dumb. She also came across as very down to earth and relateable. Not to mention the marriage, which at the time seemed very solid and sweet. Who doesn't love a good love story? Combine that with the fact that the show received some of the highest ratings of MTV history. A hit show is bound to give you more credibility ... just ask Terri Hatcher and Flavor Flave.
