I'm a longtime lurker and podcast listener but rarely post. But I thought I might give this a try in finding a solution to my (admittedly minor) problem. My wife and I are diehard hockey fans and our beloved Nashville Predators have advanced to the second round of the playoffs for the first time in team history. We'll be able to attend the first home game in the next series but will be in Disney for the second (and possibly third) game. Is there anywhere in or around Disney World where we would be able to watch the games? I often see these questions for other sports, but hockey seems to be harder to accommodate. If any other hockey fans have had any luck seeing games while you're in the World on vacation, I'd greatly appreciate your advice. Thanks in advance.

Diehard Sabres fan here, waiting nervously for Game 7 tonight.

I have watched hockey games at ESPN Club on Disney's Boardwalk. I'm sure that during the playoffs at least one screen will have on the game you want. If not you can ask and they should accommodate you.

I'm sure you'll have more options to choose from if you leave property, but I'll leave that for some of the others to answer, who may have more knowledge than me about bars and restaurants in the Orlando area.

Thanks for the info. I will definitely try them out.

Hope your Sabres pull it out tonight. I felt horrible for Ryan Miller in Game 6 on that Versteeg/Leino goal. And anything to prevent Pronger from another Cup is a good thing.

I was at the game, and sitting at that end when that goal was scored. Sabres d-man Chris Butler couldn't clear the puck and Leino shoveled it in. Butler and Montador haven't been great in this series but this is no time for finger pointing. It's gonna be tough to win a Game 7 in Philly tonight, but there isn't any quit in this team. They have their injuries, but this is the NHL and this late in the season there is no team that hasn't had injury problems. Anyway, yes, let's hope Philly and their fans have nothing to celebrate tonight, and seeing Pronger and Briere and Richards and Hartnell go home empty handed wouldn't break my heart one bit.

Anyway, you must be proud of your Preds, this is the deepest they've ever gone into the playoffs, right?

This is the first time the Preds have ever won a playoff series. Before this year, they've always been the 8th seed and sent packing by the Sharks, Red Wings, and last year, the Blackhawks. We're extremely proud, and for the first time, I'll be sporting the playoff beard to Disney World. We're not used to hockey in May in Tennessee. I'm hoping we have the Red Wings next, as we handily won the regular season series with them this year. But then again, playoff hockey is a completely different game.

I've got a soft spot for Hartnell and Timmonen (being former Preds), but I'd really like to see the Sabres get to the finals...especially if that means going through the Caps to do it.

nashville predators??????????????

ok...so i haven't lived in the states for over 20 years....

apparently i've been missing out...

(as for 'my' team? my wings are red.....and i'm packing an octopus)...

We were at ESPN Club a couple of years ago during April vacation. My DH and DS were watching a playoff hockey game :) GO BRUINS!!!

We've cheered on our Blackhawks at Orlando Ale House -- which has pretty good food, too -- and will be cheering them on tonight while holding our breath, crossing fingers, and praying for a big game 7 against Vancouver.

I'm passing the time now cheering against the Flyers. (I'm with Yetti77 on the Pronger issue.) I'm not a Predators fan exactly, but I do think Shea Weber is pretty cool. It was nice to see them win a series.

I will be watching that game tonight too, and my mood will depend on whether or not the Sabres win. They were so badly outplayed in the first period it's only because of Miller that they only trail 1-0.

Anyway, I'll be mildly rooting for the Hawks in the late game, only because I don't love the Canucks and because Patrick Kane is from Buffalo. :cool1:

Go Bruins!

YEAH!!!:goodvibes

We were in WDW last week and had planned to eat at ESPN Monday night. As it turned out our beloved Bruins were playing that night....along with muliple other hockey and basketball teams.

We arrived at ESPN at 6:30 and the line was out the door. DH went into the bar area to try to get a first come first served seat and he said it was chaos in there. People hanging over other diners tables waiting for them to leave, jammed packed, etc... The rest of our party waited in line and we ended up being seated just after they dropped the puck, about 7:40. (this was the longest line we waited in all week, LOL).

Upon being seated, the Bruins game was on 1 tv in our view but far away, so far we couldnt see the puck. So we asked the waitress and she was able to change one of the tvs right next to us. It worked out perfect!

Of course there is no way to guarantee things will work out perfectly like that, but if you get lucky, it's nice way to watch the game. Also, while in line they told us if you have a game you want on near you, you can ask your waiter and if noone else in that area has already asked for a certain game on that tv, they will accomodate you.

That sounds perfect. I hope it works out that well for us next week. Even better, the Preds will rebound from last night's loss (Rinne kept 'em in it) and make my trip to Disney World that much better.

Thanks for the tips. I really do appreciate the help from everyone. Go Preds!

This past December when I stayed at the Boardwalk Inn my Dad and I went three times to the ESPN Club to watch the Toronto Maple Leafs play games in Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver.

The first game against Edmonton was even scheduled to be shown on their big screen with the sound and I was surprised by that, plus it happen to be the Leafs regional broadcast that was being shown. So it was nice hearing the voice of Joe Bowen. For the other two games I asked our server to turn it on one of the TV's which was close to our high top table and that was never a problem.

I believe this is a place that was recommended for viewing the Hockey place offs last year (if ESPN isn't an option for some reason). I was doing a listing of off grounds food places so I copied and pasted what I had for the Ale House. Corey recommended it on one of the podcasts also. I know we watched the Flyers :banana::cheer2: win a game here one night. Good luck to your team. I am hoping the Flyers make it to the play offs also. :hippie:

The Orlando Ale House.........Good food ,good drinks at a great price
LBV Ale House, 12371 Winter Garden Vineland Rd., Orlando, FL 32836
(407) 239-1800 Phone Last visit I had Garlic Shrimp, 35 of them on bed of pasta with garlic bread, $9.95. Their chicken nacho starter is big enough to feed 4-6 people. 3 of us could not eat it & the cost about $11-12, http://www.millersalehouse.com/ (I know the website says Millers. It is a chain, some go by "Millers Alehouse, others go by the name of the city they are in. The one near DTD (Crossroads) is listed as Buena Vista Ale house on the website, but the name on the sign outside says Orlando Ale House

If not the ESPN Club then I agree with the Orlando Ale House recommendation. Very close to DTD.

Yaaaay hockey fans :D *hugs everyone*

Go Flyers!

.....*crickets*

I know, I know. My team is full of total goons and Philly has no class whatsoever. But hey, I guess it's part of their charm?...No? ^_^;

Anyway, to the OP: Congrats on the Preds making it to the second round! The playoffs this year are shaping up to be pretty exciting. So awesome to see new teams. And Tampa! Wow! :)

As mentioned by the others, I cant really think of anywhere other than ESPN zone and even then I've never been there.

Of course I'm hoping Philly will go far again, but it really sucked to see Ryan Miller go as I like the Sabres too. The guy is AMAZING and is one of my all time favorite players. He was hot on team USA last year :woohoo: And Boston! I'm a total Marc Savard groupie:laughing: And I admire Milan Lucic too. AND Tim Thomas. You guys saw his go with Carey Price right? :rotfl:

Really, I'm a total hockey geek. There's players I like on just about every team. *subs in the hope people will nerd out with her*

You lost me with Savard. Guy's one of the biggest crybabies ever to lace up a pair of skates. And Lucic? Ugh. I guess I just hate the Bruins. But they shouldn't feel bad, since I also hate the Leafs, the Sens, the Flyers, the Penguins and the 'Canes. And I don't have much love for the Caps either.

Anyway, it's good to talk to other hockey fans on here!! Now that the Sabres are out, I'm only halfway paying attention to the playoffs, but I wouldn't mind seeing the Bolts win the East. A Tampa-Vancouver Stanley Cup Finals would be interesting.

Being a Western Conference guy (grew up a Blackhawks fan and switched allegiances to the Preds when they came into the leage in '98), I only have a passionate hatred for a couple of teams; the Ducks and the Stars. Getting to watch them as often as I have, I've always thought both of those teams make the Flyers look clean. Well, maybe not clean, but I swear Corey Perry, Jarrko Ruutu, Mike Ribiero, and Steve Ott can give Carcillo, Richards, and Briere a run for their money in a dirty game. And I'd much rather have the Flyers in the Cup Finals than the Pens or the Caps. They just can't seem to figure out who their goalie is since the end of the regular season.

I'd love to see a Nashville/Tampa Cup Final so that we can shut up those critics of "non-traditional" hockey markets. But if the Preds keep getting calls like that phantom hooking call on Weber last night in OT, it's going to be tougher than it should be.

Here's to hoping that Nashville can even up the series tomorrow night. Go Preds! Love to see so many hockey fans on here.

I guess you really do hate the Bruins then:rotfl: Hey, if Tampa wins tonight this is gonna be me ---> Go Cinderella.

Oh my goodness. Corey Perry and Jarko Ruutu...I can't even:rolleyes1 Every time Corey Perry comes on screen I cringe. It was the same with Chris Kunitz when they were both still on Anaheim. Now Steve Ott...that guy is just plain crazy. Funny you should mention goalie problems as Philly needs all the help they can get too:lmao:

Wouldn't that be SO cool to see a Nashville Tampa cup?!?!? Or even Vancouver and San Jose. Anything to mix it up. I remember sitting through that Detroit/Pittsburgh cup a couple years ago and being all zzzz.....boring. No offense to anyone who likes these teams or players of course, just my opinion!

I forgot to mention since the OP is a Predators fan I hope they beat the Canucks for several reasons. I hate it when the Canadian media calls the last Canadian team left in the playoffs Canada's team. Well in the past when the Leafs were the last Canadian team left in the Playoffs they were never called that. The only time I want Canada to win is at the Olympics, World Hockey Championships, World Junior Championships and the World Cup of Hockey. Finally on this Hockey message board I read and from the media in Vancouver they hate the Leafs and all our fans. They have claimed how the media always starts of with Leafs news and when Toronto plays in Vancouver on Saturday nights the games start at 7:00 PM EST and 4:00 PM PST for them, instead of starting at 10:00 PM EST and 7:00 PM PST which is what usually happens. That's called high raitings for CBC because they can get more people watching the games by doing that. Plus there is one sports broadcaster on a Vancouver sports radio show how wants to see the worst happen to the Leafs anytime they are in the news for something wrong, like when Ron Wilson was handed a roll of $ for his 600th career win that was caught on camera after the game, because it was against his former team the San Jose Sharks. The NHL didn't like that and gave the Leafs a fine which I personally thought was a joke. The thing I find really funny is how a lot of Canucks fans say they are a rival to the Leafs and the reality is no one in Toronto considers that to be true. Anyway with Montreal elimintaed in the 1st round no I want to see Vancouver lose.
