You can probably tell by my User Name. Dog agility is my #1 addiction.

One of mine used to be golf (thus the user name), but with 3 kids 6 and under, that is very hard these days. I'll get back into again sometime in the future.

Homebrewing is another thing I used to go (still have all the equipment), but there aren't as many friends close by and I don't drink as much beer as I used to.

My other thing now is BBQ. Nice and slow. I made 2 4lb pork butts a few weeks ago. 7 hours on the smoker at about an avg temp of 230ºF. I love pulled pork samiches!! MMMMMMM I'll be doing some St Louis cut spare ribs in a few weeks. Those only take about 5 hours to cook. I'll probably throw some long sausage links in there for a few hours too. One of the appatizers I made last year during a smoke were bacon wraped Scollaps. OH WOW What flavor!!

You can't get real good BBQ in the Boston area. Nothing even close to compare to Memphis, Kansas City, Texas or the Carolina's.

Radio Control model helicopters and some airplanes.

I could have bought several "looooong "Canon "L" lenses for what I have wrapped up in the helicopters and radio gear.

More biking...

We sail. These are my boys (11 & 13 years old) out on the Sunfish (blue/white sail) and the Force Five (white sail). We also have an Interlake-16 (which is in my signature) and a Zodiac. And...I have a beach chair with a cup holder I'm pretty fond of. :)

Hiking and canoeing. Both of which used to be fairly inexpensive until gas went up so much. I also just took scuba lessons.
In the winter we ski and snowshoe.

Kayaking in Florida Jeff! You are braver than I am!!!

I would like to play golf more, but the time and money it takes is too much for me right now with young DDs. I usually only play about 3-4 times a year when my parents visit. In high school, I probably played 4-5 times a week! :rotfl2:

During college and for a while afterwards I was really into bodybuilding. After meeting my wife, that sort of went by the wayside, but I am getting back into it now. I am to old now to want to compete like I used to, but at least I am getting in much better shape! I had been at a little community weight room for a little over a year and was outgrowing it, so I finally decided to spend some money and actually go back to a real gym a couple of weeks ago.

It was only scary the one time I took my DSLR (D70 at the time)- I was a wreck. Now I just take my waterproof Pentax W30.

Good for you- I built a home gym this year- I wish I could say that using it is a hobby. Listening to the lovely and relentless Mrs Gdad ask when I am *ever* going to use it may qualify as a hobby. Here is what is behind me while I am DISing- I usually try to ignore it. :rolleyes1

Lots of really active hobbies here, you are all to be commended for that (at least that would be what my cardiologist would say - but what does he know :lmao: ). Anyway, for my hobby (other than trying to understand the manual for my Pentax K10D - I think that a few of my gray cells have taken a permanent vacation, and I don't retain what I read so well anymore), I take perfectly good pieces of wood and turn them into piles of fluffy shavings at the wood lathe:

For examples of what else I make, besides the shavings, try here (but don't be critical of the pics, as they were taken with a lousy P&S, and are the reason why I ponied up for a better camera).

The Box Elder

Oh yeah, I built a gym too - wife finally got fed up with it sitting there and started using it. Now 30 pounds lighter, and at the age of 52, she is road ready (was using the gym enough? - not after a while) and preparing to enter her first 5K race, and thinking that 10Ks can't be all that bad. Well, at least the stuff is getting used :rotfl:

The magic happens during the month or so in spring when I can snowboard in the morning then head down the canyon for 9 holes in the afternoon :)

During the next two months, we plan to go to Chicago, Michigan (just the wife and kids), Estes Park, Grand Tetons, and Yellowstone. We've also mixed in several trips closer to home - Goose Island State Park, Guadaloupe River, and Natural Bridge Caverns.

I do some cycling, but that's just to work and back and occasionally to a park with the kids. I'd say that our major family hobby is playing - on the swings in the backyard, in our pool or a neighborhood pool, at a park, etc.

I'm also a big gadget freak. We've got 8 computers in use in the house (mine, my wife's, each of the kid's, upstairs HTPC, downstairs HTPC, kid's laptop, parent's laptop). We've got 3 mp3 players, 1 portable video player, 2 Wii's, a PS3, an Xbox 360, 2 DSes, 3 HD-DVRs, a Kindle, 4 GPSes and an assortment of the other little gizmos. In the minivan, we have two headrest monitors connected to two DVD players. We also connect a Wii and a portable video player in to the system when we travel.

Here are some shots of the theater room.

Oh, I've also been running. I'm signed up for the Goofy this January. I don't really like running, though, so I don't call it a hobby.

Jeff,

I continue to be in awe of your photos! :worship: :worship: :worship:

I think I need you to give me some lessons!
Do you offer them?

Dawn

Hobbies:

Snow Skiing
Used to be Mountain Biking (I still have the bike from BC- Before Children!)

My boys ALL golf! DH was a pro before tearing his rotator cuff. I now LOVE golf because it gives me a few hours ALONE!!!! :lmao:

I sew and embroider with a machine (Brother Disney model! :thumbsup2 )

We travel as much as we can. I traveled a lot before marrying. I was raised as a US Citizen, but overseas, so it is in my blood. I haven't done as much overseas now that we have kids, but I did get to go to China and Hong Kong last year. I had been before, but it felt so good to do some real travel again.

We do travel a lot in the US though. And we will get to Montreal in October.

Oh Mark, my DH is going to be SO envious of your media room. We are still building ours (well, DH is. So far the wiring is all in, the speakers are in, but the drywall isn't up yet!!!!)

Love the canoeing pics too.
