HOB gospel brunch

Hi all,

I just had a question for anyone that has been to the House of Blues gospel brunch. We were thinking of going there when we come and visit in October. It seems to have lots of mixed reviews. Some people say it's great, others say it's a bit lame. Has anyone been to the DTD one and what was your take on it, worth it or not??

We really wanted to do it last year but the way our schedule worked out we couldn't. I just mentioned to DH that I would like to try again for next year's trip!

We went this past April and to be honest we were not impressed at all. The food was ok but just average buffet food. The actual gospel park of it wasn't really what I had expected (but that could totally be me and my misjudgment). Our family tries to go to church (life center) every week and felt this was a great way to get a bit of praise in for the day but it had a very southern baptist feel that I just wasn't into (a bit more of a performance feel to it than true praising) but maybe that is exactly what it is suppose to be, just not quite what I had expected. It was just ok to me.

The HOB uses lots of local gospel choirs from Los Angeles for it's entertainment, but it is in the true Southern Style Gospel vein. If you aren't prepared for that or are not comfortable for true religious Christian music, it may not be your thing.

The choirs vary from time to time, also, so you may not have the same experience. Be forewarned, occasionally they have to cancel the brunch if something happens with the scheduled choir.

Also - If you don't feel like paying for the official brunch, you can still eat a meal upstairs, where you can't see the entertainment, but you can still hear. Price is cheaper.
