The saga of hotel booking continues... SL still isn't showing any discount after the 30% was pulled a few weeks.

But yesterday (and today) HNY is showing 15% off. Obviously this discount (if it doesn't go before) will end 31st Jan. It still makes the hotel just over £1700 for our stay (original SL price was just under £1100, now just over £1500 at std price). We could opt for a non lakeside view room which would bring price down to £1500. I'm not bothered about our view as we'll never look out of the window! ;)

It's still a bit more than I wanted to pay as our flights were more expensive than expected and also myself and DD have had to have new passports (almost £130), so a saving on the hotel would be good.

So, question is should I wait and hope something better comes along for either HNY or SL? Or, should I just book the HNY.

Have to say, I wasn't that keen on HNY but been reading up quite a bit and it does seem to tick the boxes for us. I had sold myself to stay at SL with the 30% discount though.

Anyone got a crystal ball? :rotfl: I really don't know what to do.

just as a matter of interest, how much is it for the hotel of your choice, dates of you choice, for one adult and any free children? There may be a perfectly legitimate way of doing it cheaper :).

Ohhh grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Wish I could help, or even offer some words of wisdom but I'm too scared to advise either way, sorry

I'm not going to offer advice either - but I'll tell you what I'm doing ;)

We've booked flights for May. I'm not happy with the HNY price at the moment, so am holding off, based on past experience, that there will be another discount.

I've just noticed another discount has been added to the website - 40% off 3 night stays on selected dates up until April. It's a a long time until May/June in DLP terms and I can't see only rack rate being offered from February until then.

Having waited for discounts for the last 3 years, we've been lucky and usually when one discount finishes another starts within a few days.

But, you need to be quick. Know what you want and book it within a day or so of it appearing. The discounts are always 'UP TO' meaning that the highest discounts go first, and then reduce to say 10 or 15%. This will be why there are no rooms offering the 30% now.

Also - many of the good deals are based on 3 nights. It can often work out cheaper going for 3 nights rather than 2.

Now, I might be totally wrong about this - but I'm not booking now at these prices. If I am wrong, I'll choose another hotel :guilty:

Also, I've never paid for a lake side room. I don't see the point to be honest. The best rooms we ever had were on the ground floor, a few doors along from the swimming pool area - it was so handy. We also had sliding doors looking over the tennis courts - much better than a lake view IMO. :goodvibes

I know those doubts. Not too long ago I was have same doubts, same questions. I don't remember who, but someone here told me - if I'm happy with the price and I'm ready to pay, I should book. I wasn't, so I waited and waited and waited and finally booked with 30 off.
I would wait. You've got time. Did you check other countries DLP site offers?

Aww thanks ladies - you are really helpful in a supporting way :lmao::hug:

I've droned on and on about this blumming hotel saga - just want it booked - not good at not having something organised!

Elaine - I don't quite know what you mean? :confused3

I haven't checked the 'other' sites for a few days so will have a trawl.

Btw - due to flights being booked I'm stuck with 5 night stay (which will be great...... when we find a hotel) ;)

I think Elaine means just booking one adult and any free kids into the room at your chosen hotel, then buying the lowest level of annual pass for the remaining people, and adding them to your room booking once you arrive. This can esp work for longer stays like yours.

Thanks Zinderella. I'm up to speed now. It is something I am investigating! But when I've priced up the HNY today it has gone back up to standard rate :lmao:. So, for the moment, I'll sit tight once again , even if just booking for 2 of us and getting passes for the other 2!

It's only a few more days until the 31st Jan offer finishes so hopefully something else will spring up not long after that. So, I guess this will be me for the next few weeks :surfweb:.

If there is one thing this has taught me, it's book the blumming thing when you see it as Mrs Poppins says :rolleyes1.
