Reading some reviews......

I have ADRs for Kona and Cape May Dinners.

I think I will drop em for ??????

We really like Cape May dinner. It's a good mix of items that satisfies everyone in our family. A bucket of clams and/or mussels is nice, too.

Jeez, we love Kona and will choose it over Ohana any day! They have really good, interesting, well-prepared food. Ohana has acceptable, usually overdone meat on swords. Don't get me wrong, Ohana is fun, but we go there for the experience. We go to Kona for the FOOD!

in the reviews here. Check out the "never again" thread. For every person who hated a place, 5 more loved it. If their menu appeals to you, try it. Personally I love Kona, ate there several times and the only time I had a issue was when I ordered something I ended up not liking. Wasn't Kona's fault, it was mine. And every trip I say I'm going to try Cape May but so far haven't made it there. I'm from New England and my brother lives on Cape Cod. So we're pretty picky about our seafood. That does not mean, however, that it isn't a perfectly good seafood buffet.

We have never had a bad meal at Kona's (all dinners) and Cape May was excellent when we were there in April of this year. We dined there many times, but in 2006, we weren't impressed so we skipped it for a few years and tried it again this year. Glad we did.

I was flip-flopping on these two places.....all my other ADR's are 100% confident in good decisons.

The places you will never go again opened up my book of indecison on these two places.......:grouphug:

BUT, I like to try new things and places...SO....I'll keep them.party:

Totally agree! When planning WDW vacation, I always ask the kids where they would like to eat. Even my DS, (who was 8 at the time) said, "I want to eat at the Poly, but at the restaurant where the kids DON'T march around!" (We are not fans of the food at 'Ohana, although it receives a lot of love on these boards.)

This is the same kid when asked at age 6, said, "I want to go to the restaurant with the cars." I asked, "Oh, so you want to eat at Si-Fi Dine-In?" And he said, "No, I don't want to eat there, I just want to sit in the car... I don't like their food." :rotfl:

We'll try any restaurant, once, for food or the experience, but when it comes to repeating restaurants... food wins out over atmosphere, fun or characters.

Glad you are going to give them a try! I agree with PP who said don't get too caught up in the reviews.

Opinions are like bellybuttons, everybody has one. ;) Peoples tastes are different, and restaurants can have off nights.

Never been to Cape May, but we really enjoy Kona! Hope you have a great trip!

:)

I am glad you are sticking with them!!!!!! For our last trip DH and I did the deluxe plan for a week so we had a ton of TS restaurants and I have to say some of the ones we were 100% sure on we were not too impressed with and others that we were very hesitant about, based on reviews, had really solid food and we were very impressed.

We love Kona. It was one of our best meals during our last trip. I'm heading back there in August--can't wait! :woohoo:

Kona is very very good I wouldn't drop that. Were going to Cape May for dinner for the first time next month heard all good. Can't wait :thumbsup2

CM maybe but Kona never
Kona has the best food and service out of any non Sig TS I have been to.
Order the Strip Steak I find it far superior to any other steak again at non sig...

ITA! If we think it looks good, we try it. If we don't like it, we don't have to go again! Everyone has different opinions...we LOVE 9 Dragons and Planet Hollywood and most people hate them so just do what sounds good to you!

Kona/Cape May seems like apples/oranges. Or maybe pineapple/clams:earsboy:

The only item I would say "run away!" from at Cape May is the strange mashed potatoes with basil pesto. There was a bit of an oil slick in them, but I did try them anyway. The pesto overpowered them, and the oil slick didn't help.

The seafood was fairly decent. I never get the peel and eat shrimp because I'd rather work on opening the snow crab legs. ;)

I just went to Cape May on July 15th, so it's still fresh in my mind. I haven't had a Kona dinner in a couple years, but I enjoyed it. I would definitely go back for the Hawaiian bread w/macadamia nut butter alone. :cloud9:
