If they just toss everything out anyway? I am so bummed...we returned last week from FW cabins and BCV and we realized right after we checked in we had left the charger for our digital video camera plugged in the wall by a chair in the master bedroom of the BCV. One of our kids must have put it on floor behind the chair where we couldn't see it. We also had left some new cups we bought for the kids in the dishwasher. We called immediately and spoke to lost and found and housekeeping. The supervisor of housekeeping said she would check and she called us back - the housekeeper threw out the cups and someone had just checked in so they couldn't go in the room but they would check when they could. No call the next 2 days so we return home - call twice with no return call again. DH calls a 3rd time and gets the run around about why he would need to talk to management. He leaves another message with housekeeping and she returns his call this time- he explains what happened and she said she would look into it. Later that day she leaves a message that the housekeeper is not getting back to her so she thinks she threw it away. And for us to let us know the part #, brand etc and they would reimburse us. We call Canon and about died when they said it was $136 with shipping! :earseek: We ordered it because we need it anyway and left a message back with her for the part # and cost and she never called back - we have called twice since then to follow-up. We are assuming because of the cost it won't be reimbursed. We understand it is our problem for leaving it behind, but why on earth would housekeeping toss it? Why even HAVE a lost and found department if they just throw it all away?

Hmmm, since AKL's manager called us to return my son's belt (weeks after we'd returned home), I really doubt that the charger was thrown away. If it was, I think it was likely a fluke. I think Disney's pretty good about their Lost and Found, truthfully.

Well, then why would the supervisor say she thinks it was? She had figured since the maid was avoiding her and had already thrown away all of our cups -that it wasn't a good sign. I really doubt it was a guest. They would have no use for it at all.

We had a very nice experience with the lost and found at the WL last month. Our DD left her Grandpa's binoculars (that we had borrowed) in the lobby while we were checking in without any of us ever realizing it our entire trip. When we arrived home and visited with my parents they said "where did you lose the binoculars"? We had no idea what they were talking about and they then showed us a box with the WL return address and their binoculars inside. The case was marked with my Dad's name and address so the lost & found department mailed them back to him lucky for us. They were so excited thinking we sent them something from Disney and they were awfully surprised to find their own binoculars that we were supposed to have inside! I thought it was so nice of the CM to send them back.

I don't see why they couldn't look in the room just because someone had checked in? I think the new occupants wouldn't have minded. I mean what if you had lost a gold necklace, would that make a difference? I'm sorry the maid tossed your cups, that was dumb of her. I hope they do reimburse you for the power cord like they said they would.

We left our second set of car keys in our room when we left-we had them within 72 hours! I thought that was great service. Sorry you did not have a good experience-hope you get reimbursed.

I have a hard time believing that a charger for a camera was tossed away. Lost and found is supposed to keep valuables for 90 days. I can't speak for the resorts, but I know that is the case with the park lost and found. As for the cups, they are not turned into lost and found due to health issues.

I am sorry for your loss. Please write Guest Communications and report what happened. I don't know if they can do anything for you, but they really should know. If you have the name of the person with which you spoke, that would be helpful as well!

That Address is: wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com.

Good luck to you! :flower:

I'm really surprised. I've heard such pleasant stories of people getting packages from WDW weeks or longer after their return home with items they didn't even know they'd lost. Very sad. :( Write to guest communications about it, especially if you have the names of anyone you have spoken to until now.

Good luck!

Wow! That's a totally different experience than we had. My DH left a belt there on our first family trip. We got a package from WDW in the mail with the belt before he even knew it was missing. It wasn't even a good belt.

Good luck & keep talking to someone there til it's resolved to your satifsfaction.

Wow, I am soo sorry to hear about your expirence, it must be frustrating. We had a great expirence with Lost and Found this trip. It seemed like they were doing all they could to get back my son's Mickey, which was just one of those $10 ones in the gift shop.

Hope it all works out for you!

I was a housekeeping manager for many years and I can say that we always kept items for 90 days or longer. Were the cups plastic or glass? If they were plastic then they were probably thrown away. Your charger is probably still in the outlet where you left it. The manager should have gone to the room and checked it herself when she did not get a response from the housekeeper. Write a letter to the general manager and include your receipt for the new charger. Good luck

On our last trip in October we left a very nice very expensive brand new jacket in one of the drawers in our concierge room at the Poly.

I called but supposedly Housekeeping never found it, nor had one turned in by the next occupants. (doesn't Housekeeping check the drawers between guests?)

I was also very disappointed after hearing how "great" Disney is about returning items.

I wonder if your charger was thrown away by the next occupants of the cabin? (not Housekeeping) Sounds like something a kid might do and not even tell a parent until later when asked.......

I left a wal-mart bag in drawer that had a plain t-shirt, a kid shirt and a learning book. They sent me a postcard telling me they found stuff in my room and to call them. I called and confirmed what was in the bag and they sent it to me. I figured once I left it it was gone for good. I was impressed that they would do that. Sorry, you had a bad experience. I hope it gets resovled.

I have left stuff in the room several times and have always had it returned.
At BC I left some clothing in a drawer. I called when I got home and they said that someone else was in the room and they would have to check with them and if they said it wasn't theirs they would send it back. They returned it a few days later.
Last Christmas we left 3 winter coats in the front closet of our OKW Grand Villa. Those places are so big I just forgot to check the closet. Also, I think I was in denial about going back up north. Anyway, we couldn't reach anyone over the weekend, but on Monday they checked and they sent us our coats no problem.
Maybe there is another manager or a housekeeping supervisor you could speak to. Even if someone found it in the room, what are the chances they would have any use for your charger? I would think its either still there our someone turned it in.
Good luck and Happy Holidays! :wizard:

We have only had great returns when we have left items in the room...sorry to hear about your frustrations....I understand the cups...health issues but the charger it was probabaly not found by the housekeeping people and the other guest picked it up...maybe they didn't turn it in...

I would call and as for the manager of the resort and explain the problem...and see if they can faciliate reimbursement
