Ok, just booked a trip to Ft Myers in August (unfortunatly, its a budget trip, so i will not be visiting the world :( ). Anyhow, Im looking at car rentals and Im in a deadlock with a dession. I can go with the Emerald Aisle or Dollar Full Size SUV for teh same price...Anyone use dollar lately or know anything about them? I have rental credit's built up with National, so Im leaning towards them, but an SUV is a pretty tempting offer :teeth:

If you are not off-roading, nor looking to take the trip out of the stated budget category, I would lean to National. Not much need for an SUV in Fort Meyers in August (actually, not much need for one in Chicago in January :confused3 ). JMO

do you have to go to the counter at dollar? If so, definitely stick with natl.

Thanks for your opinons. I just booked with good ole' national on the EA. Rates pretty high ($230 with taxes) but it should come down alot when new codes are released...

I use National at RSW a lot. Normally the Emerald Aisle has just what you ordered - intermediates. Once I got a small SUV as I got in very late and the aisle was empty. This aisle is not like MCO that often offers many upgrades. I have used Dollar there too with no problems. I have been sticking to EA this year to try to get qualified for Executive Aisle. Just might make it. Enjoy Fort Myers!

Thanks Niagara!! I heard that all the rental cars are in the parking garage now after the completion of the new terminal! I love not having to take a shuttle. I might consider paying a little more and using a double upgrade to get a minivan if upgrades are usually not available...
