Okay I'm assuming here- so if I'm wrong... someone correct me please.

When you have your room tickets on your room key.. and the dining plan also... you obviously can't return your room key when you check out since you may still have that day's ticket on it that you plan to use PLUS I know I've read that the dining plan is a certain number (based on night's stay) but you can use it your arriving day/leaving day if you want....... so...... wouldn't that mean people still have their room keys to show and get the wristband for EMH even after they are checked out at the resort? (and I don't just mean the day they checked out- I mean after that day also)

Wouldn't that mean there is the potential/possibility that less than honest people might be staying only part of their vacation onsite, then use the room key the rest of their trip to take advantage of EMH?

If the tickets are on the room key when they are swiped for entry your date of departure is one them. They might get on a monorail but would be stopped at the gate. As far as I know

I have no idea what you just said.. you lost me.
I'm not talking about "length of stay" type tickets- I'm talking about buying certain amount of days tickets-are those not put on the room keys?

Even if they aren't- the dining is still on there, so obviously when you check out that morning you can't hand over the room keys otherwise how will you use the rest of your dining plan that day? So you still have it, already checked out so no way they can take it back away from you, and unless they are scanning room keys when you go to get the EMH wristband- they won't know you've checked out of your room the day before, 5 days before, etc. Will they? (and I'm not talking about using the key to get in for however many days after that... they can use other tickets for that. I'm talking about using the room key ONLY to still take advantage of EMH even though they are no longer staying onsite at that time- have already checked out).

It just seems to me, unless someone corrects me in some way, that this could lead to MORE people staying for EMH than is technically staying in the resort for that day(s).

You never have to turn your room key in - even if you don't put tickets or dining plans or whatever on them. They're disposable. They do, however, have the dates of your stay printed on the front. If you are trying to get into to EMH on 10-14 and the dates on the front of your card say 10-07 to 10-09, then I would imagine they would notice that.

They do? I don't remember seeing that last time- but if you say it's so, it must be so- and THAT'S how they keep people from using them for EMH past the date of staying in the resort. Thanks for clarifying that. LOL I had visions of LOTS of people staying for EMH that were no longer staying at the resorts. LOL

The resort keys have the dates printed on them. If you check out of your resort on the 12th, you shouldn't be able to get a wristband for EMH on the 14th.

The keys do have your dates of stay on them. Now they also have your name, not the name of the person that the reservation is under.

No one ever checked our dates, just that you had a Tinkerbell card. I just flashed it briefly. I am sure that you could get the wristband 90% of the time with an expired card if you really wanted to. Maybe they will tighten up as they go on.

Why would you have to turn in your roomkey at Check out? They are yours to keep as a souvenier. At midnight, the day of your checkout, any privleges you had on that room key will expire. Your tickets will expire 14 days from 1st use unless you purchased the non expiring feature. There are dates on your room key to let them know if you should be using your privlege of EMH, and they will be checking for that, as well as your Photo Id when you go up to get your wristband. If they don't then they aren't being as thorough as they should be and someone should be let know to protect the integrity of the EMH privlege for resort guests.

I see what you are saying, but would people really bother? We came home with three room keys - I know they all have our individual names but I didn't notice dates. I know the CM's at EMH didn't look close enought to READ the dates if there were any.

I GUESS you could technically buy your park passes somewhere, stay offsite, and bring your old key back for EMH, but like I said, would people really bother? Seems like an awful lot of labor for a few extra hours in the parks! :confused3

Jackskellingtonsgirl- I was thinking more along the lines of people only staying a day or two onsite, but their trip actually being much longer staying offsite... but continuing to use the room key the rest of their trip to have access to the extra magic hours (early morning and evening 3+ hours). I know now they have the dates printed on them, but I also see in this thread that they aren't always checking the dates. If not, that effects others that actually ARE staying onsite at that time- it makes the EMH really busier/packed more than they should be.
