Hmm… ripoff? Or genuine?

Seen a few adverts for a multi-system gaming machine on Facebook with two wireless consoles for $49.99. You plug a dongle into your TV's HDMI port and it comes pre-loaded with PS2, Dreamcast, N64, PS3, Gamecube, Xbox games and so on...

MUST be something dodgy about it? Like lag?

As it stands, I have enough games without having to splash out on ANOTHER console, but still.

It claiming to have PS3 games would automatically signal scam to me. PS3 emulation has come a long way in the past few years but is still notoriously difficult to pull off without serious lag or other issues with the games.

See, that is EXACTLY what I was thinking!

I don't think it's a scam. My husband has one and has thousands of games that he plays on the TV with a handheld device. It came with hundreds of PS3, PS2, and so on games to pre-loaded on it and then he downloaded even more. It's his retirement plan to play through all of them. Lots of top games. I think he paid less than $100. He buys them from third party sellers on Amazon.. Not sure how legal it is but he got one for each kid for Christmas and we even got one for a friend's birthday (so probably in the $50 range).

I also know that there's a way to buy a cheap Rasberry Pi and load the emulator and download tons of the older games, too. Then you buy the controllers seperately and use your TV or monitor to play the games.

The system I'm eyeing up is a Switch ripoff. Same form factor, but with 4,000 games preloaded including 250 Dreamcast games. But then I thought… maybe put that money towards a Spanish holiday?

Tbh even N64 is difficult to emulate due to the complexities of that console (same issue with PS3) so that would set off an alarm for me too.

N64 and PS3 systems aren't even that expensive to buy these days so I would rather do that than get one of these junky emulators.
