HM "Ring"

There have been several threads about the "ring" outside the HM. There are those that say that an embedded ring on the ground outside the HM is actually the wedding ring that the estranged wife/finacee of Master Gracey threw out the window. Others suggest that it is hardware for a door or gate. I didn't look too hard for it when I was there last week, so it may or may not have made it through the renovation.

Either way, there's something to be said for the magic of Disney that this was either placed there intentionally by Imagineers or that something mundane could take on a life and story of its own.

For those that believe that it is the ring of Lady Gracey, last week I observed evidence that she has also thrown another one clear across the park to Tomorrowland between the CofP and the smoking area. She must have also heaved one to the World Showcase to the Odessey side of Mexico, about 30 entrance from the door and 15 feet from the curb.

For those that believe that it is the ring - it appears from the renovation that she has actually had several suitors throughout the years. Maybe all of the extra adrelanie pulsating through her veins caused superhuman throwing abilities and she spread her angst throughout the property.

the " ring" it self was removed with the new renovation...but the Myth lives on .

there was a piece of a post or something embedded in the pavement of the exit queue at HM. it looks more like an engagement ring than a wedding ring and you'd have to be a ghost to have it fit you.

it eventually became lore in an intricate made up backstory that was fabricated and perpetuated by cast members and guests but never imagineering. the haunted mansion is unique in that it really doesn't have a backstory beyond being a 'retirement home for ghosts.'

quite a bit before the refurb, they actually did patch over the ring (in nov/dec 06?) but it didn't last long. it was said maintenance uncovered it again.

in any case, as mentioned, they made sure it couldn't be unearthed again.

BUT i do still LOVE the story!!!!!!!!

I think they should go ahead and actually put a ring in the cement. This story has been going on for years.

I was able to find the "ring" on my first trip to WDW which was exciting since so many people missed it! I also saw the Mr. Toad monument in the pet cemetary (many miss that little cemetary on the left as you exit off the grounds.) Anyway ... I was hoping they put something back after the renovation ... and I agree with a previous poster, it would be nice to embed a real ring. The only problem being all those crazy WDW people would pry it up and cart it off. They can't cart off the gate catch pipe ... I mean other "ring"!
