History of Pkg discount rates ?!?!?

I read on Mousesavers that every single year for the past 3 or 4 years they've issued pkg discounts to the general public for Dec. travel dates (these were released in August or September). This much I know. What I don't know is the typical discount that was given each year. I'm trying to decide if I should rent points or dive into the AP and get huge discounts on hotel or wait for the pkg promo.

Does anyone have any info on this for me pretty please ???

Just a kind of note...

I find it interesting that when I started going to Disney say 10 or more years ago and when I found the DIS getting a discount on a room was an oddity.

I think that over the past 4 or 5 years we have come accustomed to getting discounts. But I fear that with the travel industry and especially Disney on the upswing, rooms getting booked up, more people than ever before traveling we may need to prepare ourselves for the old days when discounts were not the norm

And it wasn't that long ago that you had to be a member of the Magic Kingdom club to get a discount.

I forgot about the Magic Kingdom Club - boy was I upset when the stopped that - and now I hardly remember it - LOL!

Do you think that Disney enjoys the 'free' publicity? That they know exactly what they are doing with these discounts. I know at work there a group of hardcore Disser's (some recruited by me) who watch the boards, talk Disney, e-mail the rumors......It really feeds off of it's self on DIS and other boards. It is fun to explain to folks that they CAN afford a Disney vacation if they only look and shop.
