Watching a TV clip of citizens trying to topple a statue of Saddam Hussein in Firdosch (sp?) Square in Baghdad, by taking turns with a sledghammer at its concrete pedestal.

Will, a hundred years from now or maybe as early as fifty years from now, we lament the destruction of historical and archaeological artifacts such as this statue?

I would consider a self-adulating statue of this, or any other despot, neither an historical nor archaeological artifact. JMO.
