How does it work with the annual pass rate? Can I book it and get an annual pass the same day I check in? I would think that happens a lot that people want to begin their pass on the same day they begin their stay.
You can make a AP ressie indicating that you will be purchasing an AP upon arrival, but you need to have it purchased prior to check-in to show proof of the AP. You can purchase an AP at any of the ticket/guest services windows at the theme parks. I don't know if you can purchase it at the resorts.
Regarding the room ressies, what I did on my last 2 trips was make a reservation under the AAA discount, then as soon as the AP rates opened up, called CRO and changed them to the AP rate.

I've made my reservations under AAA rate, but have always changed them to AP before I got there. I made my reservation through Disney. They didn't ask me my Auto Club #. So I assume it's just like the AP discount in the fact you just have to show your card at Check-in.
I made a reservation for the Yacht club for December 19th of this year and got about $58 off of a water view room with AAA. I only needed a reservation for one night.
I will call again when the AP codes come out to see if I can get a better deal.
